Embodiment Construction

[0031] The present invention will be described in detail below in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

[0032] figure 2 and image 3 Respectively according to the top view and the bottom view of the PTC (positive temperature coefficient) thermistor of the embodiment of the present invention, Figure 4 for display edge figure 2 The cross-sectional view of the thermistor on line A-A' in the middle.

[0033] Please refer to figure 2 and image 3 , the PTC thermistor of this embodiment includes a resistance element 10, which has an upper surface and a lower surface; conductive layers 20 and 30, which are laminated on the upper surface of the resistance element 10; electrodes 60 and 70, which are laminated on On the lower surface of the impedance element 10; and a plurality of connectors for respectively connecting the conductive layer to the electrodes.

[0034] The PTC thermistor will now be described in detail. The impedance element 10 is made of a PTC compound ...

Abstract

A thermistor is disclosed, which comprises a resistance element having upper and lower surfaces and showing a resistance varying characteristics according to the change of temperature; first and second conductive layers formed on the upper surface of the resistance element and engaged to each other with a non-conductive gap interposed therebetween; first and second electrodes formed on the lower surface of the resistance element and electrically separated from each other; a first connector for electrically connecting the first conductive layer to the first electrode; and a second connector for electrically connecting the second conductive layer to the second electrode. Thus, the thermistor has a structurally point-symmetric shape, so it is possible to prevent the Tombstone phenomenon, caused by an asymmetric structure. Since the conductive layers having opposite polarities are engaged to each other with the non-conductive gap therebetween, the flow of current is increased and the resistance of the thermistor is decreased.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) thermistor, in particular to a surface-mounted PTC thermistor mounted on a PCB (printed circuit board) for circuit protection. Background technique [0002] It is well known that many conductive materials change their characteristic impedance based on changes in temperature. Components whose resistance changes based on temperature are generally called "thermistors", which are generally divided into NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) elements whose resistance decreases as temperature increases, and PTCs whose resistance increases as temperature increases (positive temperature coefficient) element. [0003] PTC elements show low resistance at low temperatures, which means that electric current can pass at room temperature. However, if the element is operated under heating conditions or the temperature of the element rises due to excessive current, the resistance of the PTC element in...
