Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present disclosure relates to a composite structure, in particular to a composite structure for a laser printing system, a method for producing the composite structure, and use of the composite structure in laser printing. Background Art
[0002] Existing slides usually only include a glass substrate and a color coating, which cannot be used for laser printing because during the printing process, a portion of the color coating will be ablated by the laser of the laser printing system, releasing harmful substances such as harmful gases, smoke or particles, which harm human health and pollute the environment. In addition, the released substances will adhere to the surface of the lens of the laser printing system, blocking the light path, and they may also accumulate in the laser printing system, thereby affecting the performance of the laser printing system.
[0003] In order to prevent the spread and accumulation of harmful substances in the laser printing system, forced air ventilation is envisioned. In order to prevent harmful substances from polluting the air, it is usually necessary to install a filter at the end of the designed ventilation duct. However, the additional purification system has the following disadvantages or shortcomings: (1) The ventilation duct and filter take up space and will inevitably increase the size of the laser printing equipment; (2) If the wind force of the purification system is not strong enough, the smoke or particles generated by laser ablation will still adhere to the surface of the lens and block the light path; (3) The odor generated by laser ablation is difficult to be filtered out by the filter; (4) The smoke or particles are difficult to be completely filtered out, so the smoke and particles will still pollute the air; (5) The filter has a limited service life and should be replaced regularly; (6) The additional purification system and frequent replacement of the filter will inevitably increase the cost of the laser printing system. [0032] Reference will be made in detail to the embodiments of the present disclosure. The embodiments described herein with reference to the accompanying drawings are explanatory, illustrative, and are used to generally understand the present disclosure. The embodiments should not be construed as limiting the present disclosure. Throughout the description, identical or similar elements and elements with identical or similar functions are represented by similar reference numerals.
[0033] In a first aspect of an embodiment of the present disclosure, a composite structure is provided. The composite structure includes a substrate and a printable layer, the printable layer being disposed on at least a portion of a surface of the substrate. The printable layer has a color material contained therein.
[0034] The printable layer is transparent, and when the composite structure is subjected to laser, the printable layer allows the laser to reach the color material contained therein, and a portion of the color material irradiated by the laser is ablated to generate the desired printed content. At the same time, since the color material is contained in the printable layer, the gas, smoke or particles generated by the ablation of the color material will be blocked in the printable layer and cannot escape from the printable layer into the air, thereby protecting the health of the operator and protecting the environment. Therefore, the composite structure according to the embodiment of the present disclosure is suitable for laser printing.
[0035] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the color material may be dispersed in the printable layer so as to seal the color material in the transparent material. Thus, when a portion of the color material is ablated by the laser, most of the generated gas, smoke or particles will be sealed by the printable layer and cannot escape from the printable layer into the air, thereby protecting the health of the operator and protecting the environment.
[0036] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the printable layer includes a transparent material, and the colored material is dispersed in the transparent material.
[0037] Alternatively, in some embodiments of the present disclosure, the color material may be covered by a printable layer. In this way, when a portion of the color material is ablated by the laser, most of the generated gas, smoke or particles will be isolated in the printable layer and cannot escape from the printable layer into the air, thereby protecting the health of the operator and protecting the environment.
[0038] Alternatively, in some embodiments of the present disclosure, the color material may be embedded in the printable layer. In this way, when a portion of the color material is ablated by the laser, the generated gas, smoke or particles will be sealed by the printable layer and cannot escape from the printable layer into the air, thereby protecting the health of the operator and protecting the environment.
[0039] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the printable layer includes a coating layer and a covering layer. The coating layer includes a color material and is disposed on at least a portion of the surface of the substrate. The covering layer includes a transparent material and is disposed on a surface of the coating layer opposite to the substrate.
[0040] The coating can be used as a laser printable area. During the printing process, a portion of the coating is ablated by the laser to print the desired content on the coating, while generating gas, smoke or particles. Since the coating is covered by the cover layer, these harmful substances are prevented from being released to the outside, thereby protecting the health of the operator and protecting the environment.
[0041] In some embodiments, the orthogonal projection of the coating on the surface of the substrate completely overlaps the orthogonal projection of the covering layer on the surface of the substrate. That is, the covering layer has the same size and shape as the coating, so that the coating is located directly below the covering layer and is completely covered by the covering layer.
[0042] In some embodiments, the orthogonal projection of the coating on the surface of the substrate is located within the orthogonal projection of the covering layer on the surface of the substrate. That is, the covering layer has a size larger than that of the coating, and at least a portion of the covering layer extends beyond the coating to ensure that the coating is completely covered by the covering layer.
[0043] In some embodiments, at least a portion of the edge of the cover layer extends beyond the coating to the surface of the substrate. Alternatively, all edges of the cover layer extend beyond the coating to the surface of the substrate, so that the coating is completely wrapped by the cover layer, so that harmful gases, fumes or particles generated by ablation during the printing process are completely sealed by the cover layer and cannot be released into the air, thereby protecting the health of the operator and protecting the environment.
[0044] In some embodiments, at least a portion of the edge of the covering layer extends to the thickness direction of the substrate to ensure that the coating is sealed by the covering layer even at the edge of the substrate, so that the coating is completely wrapped by the covering layer, thereby preventing harmful gases, fumes or particles generated by ablation during the printing process from being released into the air.
[0045] In some embodiments, at least a portion of the edge of the printable layer is close to the corresponding portion of the edge of the substrate. Preferably, at least a portion of the edge of the coating is close to the corresponding portion of the edge of the substrate. For example, at least one edge of the coating is close to the corresponding edge of the substrate. Alternatively, two opposite edges of the coating extending in the length direction of the substrate are close to the corresponding edge of the substrate. Alternatively, three adjacent edges of the coating are close to the corresponding edge of the substrate.
[0046] In some embodiments, at least a portion of the edge of the printable layer is aligned with a corresponding portion of the edge of the substrate. Preferably, at least a portion of the edge of the coating is aligned with a corresponding portion of the edge of the substrate. For example, at least one edge of the coating is aligned with a corresponding edge of the substrate. Alternatively, two opposite edges of the coating extending in the length direction of the substrate are aligned with corresponding edges of the substrate. Alternatively, three adjacent edges of the coating are aligned with corresponding edges of the substrate.
[0047] In an embodiment of the present disclosure, the printable layer, preferably the cover layer, has a high transmittance. For example, the transmittance of the printable layer or the cover layer can be at least 80%, such as ≥80%, ≥85%, ≥90%, ≥92%, ≥95%, ≥96%, ≥97%, ≥98%, ≥99%, ≥99.5% or almost 100%. Therefore, when the laser is applied to the composite structure, the cover layer does not react substantially with the laser, so no harmful substances are generated, and the high transmittance of the cover layer enables most of the laser to pass through the cover layer to reach the coating without significant attenuation of the energy, thereby ensuring that the coating can be effectively ablated by the laser to produce the desired content.
[0048] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the cover layer can be made of any transparent material with high transmittance, which can be selected from but not limited to UV glue, silicone oil, glass and thermoplastics. Thermoplastics include but are not limited to polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), polycarbonate (PC), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), etc. The transparent material can be selected by those skilled in the art as needed. It should be understood that these transparent materials are commercially available. For example, the UV glue can be Surgipath Solution B with material number 39475272 commercially available from Richmond.
[0049] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the cover layer may have a smooth surface so that the energy of the laser light will not be significantly attenuated after passing through the cover layer.
[0050] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the cover layer can be adhered to the coating to improve the stability of the composite structure, while enabling the cover layer to firmly capture the gas, smoke or particles generated during printing. In other words, the bonding force between the cover layer and the coating is large enough to capture the generated gas, smoke or particles, and to maintain the integrity of the composite structure during printing. For example, if the cover layer itself is sticky or viscous, for example, the cover layer is made of UV glue, the cover layer can be adhered to the coating using its own viscosity. If the cover layer itself is not sticky or non-sticky, for example, the cover layer is made of glass, the cover layer can be adhered to the coating by a transparent adhesive. In this way, the cover layer can be firmly adhered to the coating to ensure that the cover layer can withstand the impact of the gas, smoke or particles ejected during printing.
[0051] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the coating can be any paint layer that can be ablated by laser, and the color of the coating is not particularly limited herein and can be selected by those skilled in the art as needed. Preferably, the coating has a light color, such as white, pink, yellow, green, etc.
[0052] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the coating may be directly applied on the surface of the substrate.
[0053] In an embodiment of the present disclosure, the substrate is transparent. For example, the substrate can be made of any transparent material, such as glass or a transparent polymer material. The transparent polymer material can include, but is not limited to, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), polycarbonate (PC), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), etc. Therefore, the substrate can be a glass substrate or a transparent polymer substrate. Therefore, when the composite structure according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is used as a slide for sample preparation and analysis, it is beneficial to observe the sample under an analytical instrument.
[0054] It should be noted that the size and shape of the substrate are not particularly limited herein and can be determined by those skilled in the art as needed. For example, the substrate can be rectangular. Depending on the shape of the substrate, those skilled in the art can adjust the shape of the printable layer to adapt it to the shape of the substrate.
[0055] In addition, the printable layer is not limited to a specific size in this article, and those skilled in the art can determine the size of the printable layer based on the size of the substrate and its needs. Preferably, the printable layer (preferably the cover layer) can be as thin as possible so that the laser does not attenuate too much after passing through it.
[0056] The composite structure according to the embodiments of the present disclosure has the following technical advantages:
[0057] (1) When printing is performed using the composite structure according to the embodiments of the present disclosure, the gas, smoke or particles generated by the ablation of the coating during printing are substantially not released to the outside of the covering layer, thereby protecting the health of the operator and protecting the environment;
[0058] (2) There is no need to introduce an additional purification system into the laser printing system, which is conducive to the miniaturization of the laser printing system and the reduction of costs;
[0059] (3) With the cover layer, the smoke or particles generated by laser ablation will be blocked and accumulated between the coating and the cover layer. The accumulated smoke or particles will make the printed content darker.
[0060] In a second aspect of the embodiments of the present disclosure, a method for producing a composite structure as described in any of the embodiments above is provided. The method comprises: providing a substrate; and providing a printable layer on at least a portion of a surface of the substrate. The printable layer has a color material contained therein.
[0061] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, providing a printable layer on at least a portion of a surface of a substrate comprises:
[0062] dispersing a colored material in a transparent material; and
[0063] A mixture of a colored material and a transparent material is coated on at least a portion of the surface of the substrate.
[0064] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the printable layer includes a coating layer and a covering layer. Providing the printable layer on at least a portion of the surface of the substrate includes: providing a colored material on at least a portion of the surface of the substrate to form a coating layer; and providing a transparent material on a surface of the coating layer opposite to the substrate to form a covering layer.
[0065] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the coating and the covering layer are provided in such a manner that an orthogonal projection of the coating on the surface of the substrate completely overlaps an orthogonal projection of the covering layer on the surface of the substrate.
[0066] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the coating and the cover layer are provided in such a manner that an orthogonal projection of the coating on the surface of the substrate lies within an orthogonal projection of the cover layer on the surface of the substrate.
[0067] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the cover layer is provided in such a manner that at least a portion of an edge of the cover layer extends beyond the coating layer to the surface of the substrate.
[0068] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the cover layer is provided in such a manner that at least a portion of an edge of the cover layer extends to the thickness direction of the substrate.
[0069] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the cover layer is provided in such a manner that at least a portion of an edge of the printable layer is aligned with or close to a corresponding portion of an edge of the substrate.
[0070] It should be understood that the above description and explanation of the embodiment of the composite structure are also applicable to this method, and will not be repeated here.
[0071] In a third aspect of the embodiments of the present disclosure, there is provided a use of the composite structure as described in any of the embodiments above in laser printing. When irradiated by a laser of a laser printing system, a portion of the color material contained in the printable layer is ablated by the laser to produce printed content.
[0072] Those skilled in the art will appreciate that the composite structure is suitable for use with any laser printing system, preferably an infrared laser printing system and a UV laser printing system.
[0073] For ease of understanding, some examples of composite structures according to embodiments of the present disclosure will be referred to below. Figures 1 to 5 Describe in detail.
[0074] like Figure 1 and Figure 2 As illustrated, the composite structure includes a substrate 11 and a printable layer 12. The printable layer 12 is disposed on at least a portion of a surface of the substrate 11 and has a color material contained therein.
[0075] The color material may be dispersed in the printable layer 12 , covered by the printable layer 12 , or embedded in the printable layer 12 , such that the color material may be blocked by the printable layer 12 .
[0076] like Figure 2 As illustrated, the printable layer 12 comprises a transparent material, and the colored material is dispersed in the transparent material.
[0077] like Figure 3 As shown, the composite structure includes a substrate 11 and a printable layer 12. The printable layer 12 includes a coating layer 121 and a covering layer 122. The coating layer 121 is disposed on a portion of the surface of the substrate 11. The covering layer 122 is transparent and is disposed on the surface of the coating layer 121 opposite to the substrate 11. The orthogonal projection of the coating layer 121 on the surface of the substrate 11 completely overlaps with the orthogonal projection of the covering layer 122 on the surface of the substrate 11, which means that the coating layer 121 is completely covered by the covering layer 122. In this way, harmful gases, fumes or particles generated by ablation during the printing process are completely sealed by the covering layer 122 and cannot escape from the printable layer 12 at all, thereby protecting the health of the operator and protecting the environment.
[0078] Optionally, for example, the printable layer 12 is aligned with the substrate 11 at the left end, but away from the right end of the substrate 11. In this way, when the composite structure is used as a slide for sample preparation and analysis, the composite structure can provide sufficient area to support the sample.
[0079] Alternatively, if Figure 4 As shown, the composite structure includes a substrate 11 and a printable layer 12. The printable layer 12 includes a coating 121 and a cover layer 122. The cover layer 122 is transparent and is disposed on a portion of the surface of the substrate 11. The coating is disposed between the substrate 11 and the cover layer 122. The orthogonal projection of the coating 121 on the surface of the substrate 11 falls within the orthogonal projection of the cover layer 122 on the surface of the substrate 11, indicating that the coating 121 is completely covered by or embedded in the cover layer 122.
[0080] Optionally, the edge of the cover layer 122 extends beyond the coating layer 121 to the surface of the substrate, which means that the coating layer 121 is completely wrapped by the cover layer 122 and the substrate 11. In this way, harmful gases, fumes or particles generated by ablation during the printing process are completely sealed by the cover layer 122 and cannot escape from the coating at all, thereby protecting the health of the operator and protecting the environment.
[0081] Optionally, as Figure 4 As shown, the left end of the coating layer 121 is close to the left end of the substrate 11, and the right end of the covering layer 122 is away from the right end of the substrate 11. In this way, when the composite structure is used as a slide for sample preparation and analysis, the composite structure can provide sufficient area to support the sample.
[0082] Alternatively, if Figure 5As shown, the composite structure includes a substrate 11 and a printable layer 12. The printable layer 12 includes a coating 121 and a covering layer 122. For example, the coating 121 is disposed on a portion of the surface of the substrate 11, and the left side of the coating 121 is aligned with the left side of the substrate 11. The covering layer 122 is disposed on the surface of the coating 121 opposite to the substrate 11, the left side of the covering layer 122 extends to the thickness direction of the substrate 11, and the right side of the covering layer 122 extends to the surface of the substrate 11 in the length direction of the substrate 13, so that the orthogonal projection of the coating 121 on the surface of the substrate 11 falls within the orthogonal projection of the covering layer 122 on the surface of the substrate 11, and the coating 121 is completely sealed by the covering layer 122. In this way, harmful gases, fumes or particles generated by ablation during the printing process cannot escape from the coating, thereby protecting the health of the operator and protecting the environment. In addition, the right side of the covering layer 122 is away from the right side of the substrate, so that when the composite structure is used as a slide for sample preparation and analysis, the composite structure can provide sufficient area to support the sample.
[0083] In addition, compared with the existing specimen slide including only the substrate and the paint layer, although the composite structure according to the embodiment of the present disclosure has an additional cover layer, since the cover layer is thin, smooth and highly transparent, the printing performance of the composite structure is comparable to that of the existing specimen slide, which can be seen from Figure 6 The comparison results shown show that the specimen slide on the left is an existing specimen slide, while the specimen slide on the right is a specimen slide manufactured according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 6 It can be seen from the figure that they have almost the same printing effect. Therefore, the composite structure according to the embodiment of the present disclosure has good printing performance.
