Description

Technical Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a dispenser for dispensing fluids, such as liquids, and more particularly, the present invention relates to a multi-chamber dispenser, such as a dual-chamber dispenser. Background Art

[0002] Dispensers are widely used to dispense fluids, such as liquids, for example cosmetic preparations. Due to the nature of some fluids containing two or more components, it may be desirable to store the various components of the fluid in separate chambers of a dispenser. These components are dispensed by the dispenser and then mixed into the fluid before use.

[0003] Dual chamber dispensers are known in the art, which can be used to dispense different liquids from two separate chambers of the dispenser. However, it is difficult to ensure that the amounts of liquid dispensed by the two chambers are identical to each other.

[0004] Therefore, there remains a need for a multi-chamber dispenser that is capable of dispensing different liquids in a precise manner. Summary of the invention

[0005] The object of the present invention is to provide a novel multi-chamber dispenser, in particular a dual-chamber dispenser, which is able to always discharge the same amount of fluid from its individual chambers.

[0006] According to one embodiment, a dual chamber dispenser includes: an inner shell; an outer shell; an engine; a transmission box, the transmission box is mounted to the inner shell at the bottom side of the inner shell; two chambers, the two chambers are positioned side by side in the inner shell, each chamber contains a certain amount of fluid; two actuators, the two actuators are used to distribute the corresponding fluids contained in each individual chamber; a top cover, the top cover is mounted on the inner shell; and a dispenser base, the dispenser base is used to support the outer shell. The inner shell is movable relative to the outer shell, the engine is configured to cooperate with the transmission box so that the rotation of the engine is transmitted to the transmission box, and the transmission box is configured to cooperate with the two actuators so that when the engine rotates, the two actuators move vertically at the same time. With this arrangement, the same amount of fluid can be discharged from each individual chamber every time the top cover is pushed downward.

[0007] In one embodiment, the engine comprises an engine top, an engine base, a spring mounted between the engine top and the engine base, and an engine gear fixed to the engine top at its top side. The engine top is positioned within the engine base so that the engine top can move in an up-and-down direction relative to the engine base by means of the spring. Preferably, the spring is a coil spring, one end of which is mounted to the bottom side of the engine base and the other end abuts against the top side of the engine top.

[0008] Moreover, in one embodiment, the engine top includes a body portion, a groove disposed adjacent to the bottom side of the body portion, and a rectangular opening disposed centrally in the top surface of the body portion. The groove extends circumferentially and is divided into four identical portions, each portion extending at an angle of 90 degrees and consisting of a first groove section, a second groove section, and a third groove section that are continuous with each other. The first groove section extends obliquely upward from the lowest point of the portion to the highest point, the second groove section extends vertically downward from the highest point of the portion to a midpoint between the highest point and the lowest point of the portion, and the third groove section extends obliquely downward from the midpoint of the adjacent portion to the lowest point, so that the three groove sections form a sawtooth shape.

[0009] In addition, in one embodiment, the engine base includes a body portion, four sliders arranged on the inner wall of the body portion, and two lugs. Preferably, the sliders are evenly distributed circumferentially. The lugs are radially opposite to each other. The housing is also supported on the lugs.

[0010] Furthermore, in one embodiment, the transmission case comprises a housing and two transmission gears mounted in the housing and meshing with the engine gear. Preferably, the two transmission gears are identical to each other. With this arrangement, the same amount of fluid can be discharged from each individual chamber.

[0012] Furthermore, in one embodiment, each of the two actuators comprises a piston and a push rod, the piston being sealingly fitted in a corresponding chamber, the push rod being fixed to the piston at the bottom side of the piston and having a screw portion in the form of a male thread, and wherein each transmission gear has a threaded through hole engaged with the male thread of the corresponding push rod. In this way, when the transmission gear rotates, the actuator can move vertically.

[0013] Furthermore, in one embodiment, the transmission case includes two openings at a top side thereof, and the threaded portions of the push rod are respectively inserted through the two openings.

[0014] Furthermore, in one embodiment, a protrusion is provided at each widthwise side near the top edge of the inner shell to engage with the outer shell. Therefore, a corresponding stopper recess is provided at each widthwise side near the top edge of the outer shell.

[0015] In addition, in one embodiment, the top cover has a body part and a distributor outlet. Moreover, two curved fluid channels are provided in the top cover, each channel extending from the distributor outlet and terminating at a corresponding recess. Therefore, each chamber has a cylindrical body part defining the hollow interior of the chamber and a hollow boss protruding from the top surface of the body part, and the recess is communicated with the internal fluid of the associated chamber. In this way, the fluid contained in the interior of the chamber can be discharged to the distributor outlet via the corresponding fluid channels of the top cover.

[0016] Furthermore, according to one embodiment, the dispenser base has a body portion and two hooks for engaging the housing. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0042] In the context of the present invention, directional terms such as “top”, “bottom”, etc. are used for convenience with reference to the orientation depicted in the drawings.

[0043] Figure 1A , Figure 1B and Figure 1C Schematic diagram of a dual-chamber dispenser 1 according to an embodiment of the present invention. Figure 1C As shown, the dual-chamber dispenser 1 includes an inner shell 10, an outer shell 20, an engine 30, a transmission box 40 mounted to the inner shell 10 at its bottom side, two chambers 50 positioned side by side in the inner shell 10, two actuators 60 for dispensing the fluid contained in the corresponding chambers 50, a top cover 70 mounted on the inner shell 10, and a dispenser base 80 for supporting the outer shell 20. The inner shell 10 is movable relative to the outer shell 20. The engine 30 is configured to cooperate with the transmission box 40 so that the rotation of the engine 30 is transmitted to the transmission box 40. The transmission box 40 is configured to cooperate with the two actuators 60 so that when the engine rotates, the two actuators 60 move vertically at the same time. Therefore, the same amount of fluid can be discharged from two separate chambers 50.

[0044] Specifically, the engine 30 includes an engine top 31, an engine base 32, a spring 33 installed between the engine top 31 and the engine base 32, and an engine gear 34 fixed to the engine top 31 at its top side. The engine top 31 is positioned inside the engine base 32. The spring 33 is a coil spring, one end of which is installed to the bottom side of the engine base 32 and the other end abuts against the top side of the engine top 31, so that the engine top 31 can move in the up and down direction relative to the engine base 32 by means of the coil spring 33.

[0045] Figure 2A-2B is a schematic diagram of the coil spring 33.

[0046] Figure 3A 3 is a schematic diagram of an engine top 31 in the form of a hollow cylindrical body, which includes a body portion 31a and a groove 31b, which is arranged adjacent to the bottom side of the body portion 31a. The gear 34 is centrally located on the body portion 31a. Figure 3BAs shown, the groove 31b extends circumferentially and is divided into four identical parts, each part extending at an angle of 90 degrees and consisting of a first groove section 31b1, a second groove section 31b2 and a third groove section 31b3 which are continuous with each other. The first groove section 31b1 extends upwardly obliquely from the lowest point of the part to the highest point, the second groove section 31b2 extends vertically downwardly from the highest point of the part to a middle point located between the highest point and the lowest point of the part, and the third groove section 31b3 extends downwardly obliquely from the middle point to the lowest point of the adjacent part, so that the three groove sections form a sawtooth shape.

[0047] Figure 4A FIG. 3 is a schematic diagram of an engine base 32 which is also in the form of a hollow cylindrical body, and includes a body portion 32a, four sliders 32b arranged on the inner wall of the body portion, and two lugs 32c. The sliders 32b are evenly distributed circumferentially (see FIG. 3 ). Figure 4B ), so that they can slide along the corresponding parts of the groove 31b of the engine top 31, thereby rotating the engine top 31. The lugs 32c are radially opposite to each other. When assembled, the housing 20 is supported on the lugs 32c at its bottom side.

[0048] Figure 5A and Figure 5B 4 is a schematic diagram of a transmission box 40, which includes two identical transmission gears 41 and a housing 42 for accommodating the gears 41. Each transmission gear 41 has a threaded through hole 41a (see Figure 6A-6B ). Moreover, the transmission case 40 includes two openings 43 at its top side. When assembled, the transmission gear 41 is engaged with the engine gear 34, so that the rotation of the engine 30 is transmitted to the transmission case 40. At the same time, the push rod 61 is inserted through the transmission case 40 via the corresponding opening 43 and is engaged with the corresponding transmission gear 41, so that the actuator 60 can move up and down in the inner housing 10 according to the rotation direction of the engine 30.

[0049] Furthermore, a positioning protrusion 44 is provided at each widthwise side near the top edge of the housing 42. When assembled, the positioning protrusion 44 engages with the corresponding positioning recess 13 of the inner case 10 so that the transmission case 40 can be fixed in place.

[0050] Fig. 7A is a schematic diagram of an inner shell 10 in the form of a hollow rounded rectangular cylindrical body, showing that a protrusion 11 is provided at each widthwise side near the top edge of the inner shell 10. The protrusion 11 extends in the widthwise direction of the inner shell 10. In addition, as Figure 7BAs shown, the inner shell 10 has two openings 12 near its top side, and two corresponding chambers 50 extend through the two openings 12, which will be described later. In addition, a positioning recess 13 is provided on each width direction side of the bottom edge of the inner shell 10. When assembled, the protrusion 11 abuts against the corresponding stopper recess 21 of the outer shell 20, which will be described in detail below, so that the movement of the inner shell 10 relative to the outer shell 20 can be guided by the engagement between the protrusion 11 and the stopper recess 21. The protrusion 11 can be chamfered for better guidance. At the same time, the stopper recess 21 serves as a stopper to limit the movement of the inner shell 10 relative to the outer shell 20. In addition, the transmission case 40 can be fixed in place by the engagement between the positioning recess 13 and the positioning protrusion 44.

[0051] Fig. 8A 2 is a schematic diagram of a housing 20 also in the form of a hollow rounded rectangular cylindrical body, showing that a rectangular stopper recess 21 is provided at each widthwise side near the top edge of the housing 20. As described above, the stopper recess 21 engages with the corresponding protrusion 11 when assembled. In addition, as shown in FIG. Figure 8B As shown, the outer shell 10 has an opening 22 at its bottom side, through which the engine 30 extends so as to rest on the dispenser base 80. In addition, a latching groove 23 is provided at each widthwise side near the bottom edge of the outer shell 20. During use, the upper and lower limits of the movement of the inner shell 10 relative to the outer shell 20 are defined by the top edge and the bottom edge of the stopper recess 21, respectively.

[0052] Fig. 9 is a schematic diagram of the chamber 50. Fig. 9 As shown, the chamber 50 has a cylindrical body portion 51 defining a hollow interior of the chamber 50; and a hollow boss 52 protruding from the top surface of the body portion 51. When assembled, preferably, the boss 52 is sealingly received in a corresponding recess 74 of the top cover 70, which will be described in detail below, so that the interior of the chamber 50 is in fluid communication with the corresponding fluid channel 73 of the top cover 70.

[0053] Fig. 10A and Fig. 10B 61 and the piston 62 of the actuator 60. Fig. 10A As shown, the push rod 61 has a screw portion in the form of a male thread. The piston 62 is sealed and assembled in the corresponding chamber 50, and the push rod 61 is inserted through the transmission case 40 via the opening 43 and meshes with the corresponding transmission gear 41, so that the actuator 60 can move vertically when the engine 30 rotates.

[0054] The push rod 61 may be flexible and thus remain bent in the dispenser 1 when the piston 62 is at the bottom dead center. The push rod 61 becomes straight when it passes through the transmission box 40 and its screw portion engages with the corresponding transmission gear 41. In this way, for a given stroke, the height of the dispenser 1 can be designed to be lower than that of a conventional dispenser.

[0055] Fig.11A 70 is a schematic diagram of the top cover. Fig.11A As shown, the top cover 70 has a body portion 71 and a distributor outlet 72. The body portion 71 is in the shape of a rounded rectangular plate. The distributor outlet 72 is aligned with the top surface of the body portion 71 and is centrally located in the length direction of the body portion 71, as shown in FIG. Fig. 11B In addition, Fig. 11C As shown, two curved fluid channels 73 are provided in the top cover 70, each of which extends from the distributor outlet 72 and terminates in a corresponding recess 74, which is in fluid communication with the associated chamber 50. In this case, the fluid channels 73 meet at the distributor outlet 72, thereby forming a V-shape.

[0056] Fig.12 is a schematic diagram of the dispenser base 80. Fig.12 As shown, the dispenser base 80 has a body portion 81 and two hooks 82 for engaging the housing 20. The body portion 81 is in the shape of a rounded rectangular plate. The hooks 82 are arranged on the top surface of the body portion 81 so that they are positioned adjacent to the opposite edges of the body portion in the length direction and are positioned centrally in the width direction of the body portion. When assembled, the housing 20 is placed on the dispenser base 80 so that the hooks 82 engage with the slots 23 of the housing 20 at its bottom side.

[0057] During use, once the top cover 70 is pushed downward, the engine top 31 will move downward from the original height position (i.e., the lowest point of each groove portion due to the coil spring 33), and at the same time rotate 90 degrees in the counterclockwise direction due to the sliding of the slider 32b along the groove 31b, and the engine gear 34 fixed to the engine top 31 will also rotate 90 degrees. The transmission gear 41 of the transmission box 40 that meshes with the engine gear 34 should also rotate a certain angle, which depends on the transmission ratio between the transmission gear 41 and the engine gear 34. In the example, this angle can also be 90 degrees. In addition, since the transmission gear 41 is engaged with the corresponding push rod 61 of the actuator 60, and the corresponding push rod 61 of the actuator 60 is fixed to the corresponding piston 62, so as to convert the rotational movement of the transmission gear 41 into the vertical movement of the push rod, the push rod 61 will simultaneously move upward by a certain distance. The pistons 62 of the two actuators 60 will also move upward by the same distance, thereby discharging the same amount of fluid from each individual chamber 50. Thus, whenever the top cover 70 is pushed downward, the dispense volume of the dual chamber dispenser is always 1:1.

[0058] After releasing the top cover 70, the engine top 31 will move back to the original height position due to the coil spring 33 while further rotating in the counterclockwise direction. In the case where the third groove section is shorter than the first groove section, the rotation angle during the return movement direction can be smaller than the rotation angle during the downward push movement. Therefore, the actuator 60 will gradually move upward until all the fluid contained in each individual chamber 50 is dispensed.

[0059] The embodiments of the invention described above illustrate a dual chamber dispenser. However, it should be understood that the invention can also be applied to a multi-chamber dispenser having more than two chambers, which are actuated by their respective actuators, each actuator being actuated by a respective gear in a gearbox.

[0060] The invention has been described above by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings, which present a single embodiment of the invention. It should be understood that there are many different embodiments of the invention and all of these embodiments fall within the scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims.
