As whisky casks become tokenised assets, there is an urgent technical need for a secure, decentralised method to verify that each tokenised asset corresponds to a real-world cask stored under regulated conditions. Summary of Invention The invention introduces a technical system that ensures the verifiable existence and provenance of a real-world whisky cask before purchase via a blockchain token. This is achieved using: 1. A multi-signature smart contract system that requires the signature of both CannyCask and the HMRC-approved warehousekeeper before an NFT is minted. 2. A real-time verification and signing interface that confirms warehouse storage, provenance data (e.g., fill date, distillery, cask type), and custodianship. 3. Blockchain-minted NFTs that are only created upon validated dual-signature confirmation, ensuring tamper-proof trust. 4. A metadata anchoring mechanism that links the NFT to a QR-verifiable blockchain record containing the validated cask information. This invention provides a novel technical contribution by removing the reliance on manual confirmations and introducing a trustless, secure, and transparent digital verification mechanism. Scope The solution applies to tokenised whisky casks and bottles stored under UK HMRC-approved warehouse custody, and which are represented as NFTs (non-fungible tokens) on an EVM-compatible blockchain. The invention does not apply to un-tokenised assets or purely off-chain representations.
Claims
1A system for verifying the existence and provenance of a real-world whisky cask before tokenised purchase, comprising:(a) a digital interface for submitting a verification request;(b) a multi-signature smart contract deployed on a blockchain, requiring co-signing from a platform authority and an HMRC-approved warehousekeeper;(c) a confirmation module, upon which said smart contract mints a non-fungible token (NFT) only after verification response is cryptographically confirmed by the warehousekeeper; and(d) a metadata anchoring system linking NFT data to a QR-verifiable blockchain record.Claim 2The system of claim 1, wherein the NFT minting is executed only upon receipt of a dualsignature transaction from both the platform and the HMRC-licensed custodian, providing technical assurance of physical asset verification.Claim 3A method for creating a persistent audit log on the blockchain for each whisky cask transaction, wherein each event (mint, transfer, burn) is cryptographically signed and linked to warehouse-sourced verification data.Claim 4The system of claim 1, wherein eligibility to purchase is programmatically enforced through smart contract logic that validates pre-defined regulatory or platform-specific eligibility criteria prior to NFT transfer.
