[0041] Currently, market developments indicate that power batteries are becoming increasingly widely used. Power batteries are not only used in energy storage systems such as hydropower, thermal, wind, and solar power plants, but are also widely used in electric vehicles like electric bicycles, electric motorcycles, and electric vehicles, as well as in aerospace and other fields. As power battery applications continue to expand, market demand is also growing.

[0042] During the production process of the assembly line, battery cells need to undergo a series of tests, including but not limited to testing the terminal temperature on the top surface of the battery cells, battery cell voltage, and insulation withstand voltage performance between battery cells. These tests are a checkpoint in the safety inspection of battery cells and are crucial to product safety control. The inventors have noticed that due to the size differences between different types of battery cells, the conveying unit transports the battery cells to the corresponding inspection stations during the conveying process. The battery cells at the inspection stations vary in thickness, height, or the angle at which they are placed on the inspection stations, which results in differences in distance and position between the areas to be inspected. If the temperature detection unit for the battery cells in the inspection mechanism is used for multiple types of battery cells at the same time, the distance between the precision temperature probe and the area to be inspected will affect the accuracy of the inspection if it is too far or too close to the area to be inspected. In addition, it is necessary to consider the possibility of interference between the precision temperature probe and the battery cells, causing damage, resulting in poor versatility.

[0043] To alleviate the problem of poor versatility, the applicant discovered that a trigger unit could be installed to test the battery cells being transported by the conveyor unit at the testing station, thereby improving versatility. Furthermore, the temperature of the large side surface of the battery cell and the temperature of the terminal on the top surface of the battery cell could be tested simultaneously at the same station, improving testing efficiency.

[0044] Based on the above considerations, the inventors conducted in-depth research and designed a detection mechanism that can be used to detect battery cells to be tested. By transporting the battery cells to the corresponding detection stations, the temperature of the battery cells can be detected. Taking into account the position differences of the battery cells during the transportation process, collisions or position deviations can be prevented by controlling the distance between the battery cells and the detection mechanism.

[0045] The battery disclosed in the embodiments of the present application refers to a single physical module that includes one or more battery cells to provide higher voltage and capacity. For example, the battery mentioned in this application may include a battery pack, etc. Some batteries may include a separate box for encapsulating one or more battery cells or multiple battery modules. The box can prevent liquids or other foreign matter from affecting the charging or discharging of the battery cells. Of course, there are also some batteries that do not include the above-mentioned separate box, and directly set the battery cells or battery modules in the battery installation compartment of the electrical device, that is, the battery installation compartment serves as the box.

[0046] The battery disclosed in the embodiments of the present application can be used in, but is not limited to, electrical devices such as vehicles, ships, or aircraft. A power supply system comprising the battery cells and batteries disclosed in the present application can be used to form the electrical device.

[0047] In the embodiments of the present application, the battery cells may include lithium-ion secondary batteries, lithium-ion primary batteries, lithium-sulfur batteries, sodium-lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries, or magnesium-ion batteries, etc., and the embodiments of the present application do not limit this. The battery cells may be cylindrical, flat, rectangular, or other shapes, etc., and the embodiments of the present application do not limit this. Battery cells are generally divided into three types based on the packaging method: cylindrical cells, prismatic cells, and soft-pack cells, and the embodiments of the present application do not limit this.

[0048] In the embodiment of the present application, the battery cell may include a housing, an electrode assembly and an electrolyte.

[0049] The housing may be provided with functional components such as electrode terminals, which may be used to electrically connect to the electrode assembly for outputting or inputting electrical energy from the battery cell. The internal environment formed within the housing may be used to accommodate the electrode assembly, electrolyte, and other components.

[0050] The electrode assembly is the component within a battery cell where the electrochemical reaction occurs. The housing may contain one or more electrode assemblies. An electrode assembly is primarily composed of a positive electrode sheet and a negative electrode sheet wound or stacked, typically with a separator between them.

[0051] The positive electrode sheet consists of a positive current collector and a positive active material layer. The positive active material layer is coated on the surface of the positive current collector. The uncoated positive current collector protrudes from the coated positive current collector, and the uncoated positive current collector serves as the positive electrode tab. For lithium-ion batteries, for example, the positive current collector can be made of aluminum, and the positive active material can be lithium cobalt oxide, lithium iron phosphate, ternary lithium, or lithium manganese oxide.

[0052] The negative electrode sheet includes a negative electrode current collector and a negative electrode active material layer. The negative electrode active material layer is coated on the surface of the negative electrode current collector. The negative electrode current collector not coated with the negative electrode active material layer protrudes from the negative electrode current collector coated with the negative electrode active material layer. The negative electrode current collector not coated with the negative electrode active material layer serves as the negative electrode tab. The negative electrode current collector can be made of copper, and the negative electrode active material can be carbon, silicon, or other materials.

[0053] The material of the isolation film may be PP (polypropylene) or PE (polyethylene), etc. In addition, the electrode assembly may be a wound structure or a laminated structure, but the embodiments of the present application are not limited thereto.

[0054] To ensure high currents can flow without melting, multiple positive and negative tabs are stacked together. During the battery's charge and discharge process, the positive and negative active materials react with the electrolyte, and the tabs connect to the electrode terminals to form a current circuit.

[0055] In a first aspect, the present application provides a testing mechanism for testing a device under test (DUT) 900. Testing parameters may include, but are not limited to, temperature. The DUT 900 may be a battery cell, an electrode assembly, or a battery. For ease of understanding, the following embodiments illustrate the DUT 900 as one or more battery cells.

[0056] 1 to 4 , a detection mechanism includes a conveying unit 100 , a first detection unit 300 , and a trigger unit 400 .

[0057] The conveyor unit 100 is used to transport the test piece 900. Specifically, the conveyor unit 100 is equipped with one or more carriers, each of which has a positioning slot 110 suitable for carrying the test piece 900. The conveyor unit 100 moves along a prescribed path, allowing the test piece 900 carried by the carrier to move along the prescribed path and to the inspection station in the inspection mechanism, thereby ensuring that the test piece 900 at the inspection station can be smoothly inspected by the first inspection unit 300, and loading and unloading can be achieved smoothly. For example, the conveyor unit 100 can be a conveyor belt, a slide rail, a magnetic levitation track, etc.

[0058] The first detection unit 300 is used to perform temperature detection on the object to be tested 900 .

[0059] As shown in Figure 4 , the trigger unit 400 is used to detect the distance A between the first detection unit 300 and the object under test 900. When the distance A between the first detection unit 300 and the object under test 900 falls below a preset distance value, the trigger unit 400 controls the conveyor unit 100 to stop conveying. The preset distance value can be set based on the model and type of the object under test 900. The value can be pre-determined through a limited number of data accumulations, theoretical calculations, or a designer's specification.

[0060] In this way, the workpiece to be tested 900 is transported by the conveying unit 100, and combined with the first detection unit 300, the detection of the workpiece to be tested 900 can be replaced by manual labor, and the trigger unit 400 is set to detect the distance A between the first detection unit 300 and the workpiece to be tested 900. In this way, it can be ensured that the workpiece to be tested 900 and the first detection unit 300 are always maintained at an appropriate detection distance, making the measurement data more accurate; and when the distance between the workpiece to be tested 900 and the first detection unit 300 is too close, the trigger unit 400 can control the conveying unit 100 to stop conveying, thereby avoiding temperature data with large errors. In addition, it can also timely avoid interference between the workpiece to be tested 900 and the first detection unit 300, making the detection mechanism more versatile.

[0061] In the related art, the temperature detection of the large surface of the side of the battery cell and the temperature detection of the terminal on the top surface of the battery cell are completed in two separate workstations, resulting in low space utilization.

[0062] In some embodiments, the detection mechanism includes a second detection unit 200 ; the second detection unit 200 is used to perform temperature detection on the top surface of the object to be tested 900 ; and the first detection unit 300 is used to perform temperature detection on the side surface of the object to be tested 900 .

[0063] The second detection unit 200 can be used to perform temperature measurements on the top surface of the DUT 900. Specifically, after the DUT 900 is transported by the conveyor unit 100 to the inspection station, the second detection unit 200 performs temperature measurements on the DUT 900 at the inspection station. The temperature measurements are performed on at least one of the top surface of the DUT 900 housing (i.e., the upper surface of the housing with the electrode terminals 910; correspondingly, the lower surface of the housing without the terminals is considered the bottom surface) and components located on the top surface (including but not limited to the electrode terminals 910 and the explosion-proof pressure relief valve). This temperature measurement can be performed using a contact temperature sensor or an infrared temperature sensor.

[0064] The first detection unit 300 is used to perform temperature detection on the side surfaces of the test piece 900. That is, after the test piece 900 is transported to the detection station by the conveying unit 100, the first detection unit 3000 performs temperature detection on the test piece 900 at the detection station. The detected areas include: the side surfaces of the outer shell of the test piece 900 and at least one of the components located on the side surfaces. It should be noted that if the test piece 900 is a square battery cell, the outer shell of the test piece 900 includes multiple surrounding side surfaces connected between the top and bottom surfaces of the outer shell of the test piece 900; among the multiple side surfaces, the side surfaces with a relatively large area are large side surfaces, and the side surfaces with a relatively small area are connecting surfaces. If the test piece 900 is a cylindrical battery cell, the circumferential surface connected between the top and bottom surfaces of the outer shell of the test piece 900 is a side surface.

[0065] The workpiece to be tested 900 is transported by the conveying unit 100. Combined with the second detection unit 200 on the top and the first detection unit 300 on the side, the temperature detection of the top and side surfaces of the workpiece to be tested 900 can be carried out instead of manual labor. The detection items are more numerous, more comprehensive and more efficient, thus avoiding safety accidents caused by defects in the workpiece to be tested 900 and improving safety performance.

[0066] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG1 , the detection mechanism includes a frame 500 , the first detection unit 300 is movably disposed on the side of the frame 500 ; the second detection unit 200 is movably disposed on the top of the frame 500 ; and the conveying unit 100 is disposed in the frame 500 .

[0067] The first detection unit 300 may include a first movable assembly 320, a second movable assembly 330, and a first temperature probe 310. The first movable assembly 320 is movably disposed on the frame 500 along the X-axis, the second movable assembly 330 is movably disposed on the first movable assembly 320 along the Y-axis, and the first temperature probe 310 is movably disposed on the second movable assembly 330 along the Z-axis.

[0068] In this way, the first temperature probe 310 on the first detection unit 300 can adjust its position via the first movable assembly 320 and the second movable assembly 330, thereby maintaining the distance A between the first temperature probe 310 and the object under test 900 within an appropriate range, thereby ensuring the detection accuracy of the first temperature probe 310. When the distance A between the first temperature probe 310 and the object under test 900 falls below a preset distance value, the trigger unit 400 controls the conveying unit 100 to stop conveying, thereby preventing large errors in the temperature data of the first temperature probe 310 and promptly preventing interference between the object under test 900 and the first temperature probe 310.

[0069] Optionally, the first temperature probe 310 is an infrared temperature probe. Infrared temperature probes have certain requirements for measurement distance. When the test piece 900 switches models or is tilted, the infrared temperature probe and the test piece 900 are too close. By providing a trigger unit 400, the conveying unit 100 can be promptly controlled to stop conveying, thereby preventing the infrared temperature probe from generating temperature data with large errors. It can also promptly prevent collisions between the test piece 900 and the first detection unit 300, ultimately avoiding damage to the detection mechanism.

[0070] It should be noted that in various embodiments of the present application, the direction from the top surface of the DUT 900 to the bottom surface is the Z-axis direction, and the X-axis direction, the Y-axis direction, and the Z-axis direction intersect with each other, and the intersection angle can be 90°, or slightly larger or smaller. Typically, the DUT 900 can be placed vertically. In this case, the Z-axis direction is the vertical direction, and the X-axis direction and the Y-axis direction can be two horizontal directions that intersect perpendicularly in a horizontal plane.

[0071] In some embodiments, referring to Figures 1 to 4, the trigger unit 400 includes a micro switch 410 and a controller (not shown); the micro switch 410 is used to detect the distance A between the first detection unit 300 and the object to be tested 900; the micro switch 410 is connected to the controller signal, and when the distance between the first detection unit 300 and the object to be tested 900 is lower than a preset distance value, the controller controls the conveying unit 100 to stop conveying.

[0072] Specifically, the controller of the trigger unit 400 can be a CPU; the controller can be connected to the second temperature probe 210 (mentioned below) of the second detection unit 200, the first temperature probe 310 (mentioned below) of the first detection unit 300, and the micro switch 410 signal to collect corresponding data; the controller controls the connection conveying unit 100, the first driver 321 (mentioned below) of the first moving component 320, the second driver 331 (mentioned below) of the second moving component 330, and the third driver 630 (mentioned below) of the third detection unit 600 (mentioned below); in this way, the controller coordinates the actions of each moving part according to the corresponding data collected.

[0073] In some embodiments, referring to FIG. 1 , the conveying unit 100 is disposed along the X-axis within the frame 500. Thus, when the DUT 900 is conveyed along the X-axis to the corresponding inspection station, the first inspection unit 3000 performs a temperature check on the side surfaces of the DUT 900, while the second inspection unit 200 performs a temperature check on the top surface of the DUT 900 at the inspection station. This replaces manual temperature checks on both the top and side surfaces of the DUT 900, providing more comprehensive inspection options and higher efficiency.

[0074] In some embodiments, referring to FIG. 2 , the trigger unit 400 may be disposed on one side or two opposite sides of the first temperature probe 310 along the X-axis direction.

[0075] Specifically, the micro switch 410 of the trigger unit 400 can be disposed on one side of the first temperature probe 310 along the X-axis. When the conveyor unit 100 transports the test piece 900 to one side along the X-axis, the micro switch 410 can detect the test piece 900 on the conveyor unit 100 before the first temperature probe 310, thereby preventing collision.

[0076] As shown in Figures 1 to 3 , the micro switches 410 of the trigger unit 400 can be positioned on opposite sides of the first temperature probe 310 along the X-axis. When the conveyor unit 100 transports the test piece 900 to either side along the X-axis, the micro switches 410 can detect the test piece 900 on the conveyor unit 100 before the first temperature probe 310, preventing collisions. This facilitates normal production on the battery production line or allows the conveyor belt to be reversed in other situations.

[0077] In some embodiments, referring to Figures 1 and 2, the first moving component 320 includes a first driver 321, a slide rail 322 and a slider 323. The slide rail 322 extends along the X-axis direction and is fixed to the frame 500. The slider 323 is slidably set on the slide rail 322. The first driver 321 can drive the slider 323 to reciprocate relative to the slide rail 322.

[0078] The first actuator 321 can be a servo motor or a pneumatic cylinder. Using a servo motor as an example, using a PLC (not shown) to control the first actuator 321 provides greater motion precision. This allows the slider 323 to be precisely driven to move relative to the rail 322 along the X-axis, thereby adjusting the positions of the second moving assembly 330 and the first temperature probe 310 along the X-axis.

[0079] In some embodiments, as shown in Figures 2 and 3 , the second moving assembly 330 includes a second driver 331 and a movable member 332. The second driver 331 is fixed to the slider 323 and can drive the movable member 332 to reciprocate along the Y-axis. The first temperature probe 310 is movably mounted at the end of the movable member 332 along the Z-axis.

[0080] The movable member 332 can be a rod or a plate; the second actuator 331 can be a pneumatic cylinder or a servo motor. Taking a pneumatic cylinder as an example, the telescopic rod in the cylinder of the second actuator 331 is arranged along the Y-axis. When air is supplied to the second actuator 331, the telescopic rod of the second actuator 331 drives the movable member 332 to extend along the Y-axis. In the position shown in FIG4 , the movable member 332 drives the first temperature probe 310 to move leftward along the Y-axis, which is equivalent to moving closer to the object under test 900. When air is withdrawn from the second actuator 331, the telescopic rod of the second actuator 331 drives the movable member 332 to retract along the Y-axis. In the position shown in FIG4 , the movable member 332 drives the first temperature probe 310 to move rightward along the Y-axis, which is equivalent to moving away from the object under test 900.

[0081] In this way, when the type or model of the DUT 900 on the battery production line is changed, the second driver 331 and the movable part 332 can be provided to timely adjust the distance A between the first temperature probe 310 and the DUT 900 along the Y-axis direction, so that the DUT 900 and the first detection unit 300 always maintain an appropriate detection distance, making the measurement data more accurate and avoiding unnecessary collisions.

[0082] Optionally, as shown in Figure 1 , the first moving assembly 320 includes a drag chain 324, through which the first actuator 321 is electrically connected to the outside world. The drag chain 324 houses cables or air pipes for the first actuator 321 and the second actuator 331. As the slider 323 reciprocates relative to the rail 322, the drag chain 324 provides traction and protection for the cables or air pipes, thereby extending the service life of the detection mechanism.

[0083] Optionally, the second driver 331 may be a servo motor, and the second moving assembly 330 includes a sensor 333 , which is used to sense the position of the movable member 332 along the Y-axis direction.

[0084] The sensor 333 can be a photoelectric sensor or an electromagnetic sensor. The second movable assembly 330 may include three sensors 333, which are arranged sequentially along the Y-axis on the body of the second actuator 331 to sense the position of the movable member 332 along the Y-axis. The Y-axis position corresponding to the center sensor 333 can be set as the origin; the Y-axis position corresponding to the sensor 333 farther from the first movable assembly 320 is the farthest point of extension of the movable member 332 along the Y-axis, at which point the distance A is minimized; the Y-axis position corresponding to the sensor 333 closer to the first movable assembly 320 is the closest point of retraction of the movable member 332 along the Y-axis, at which point the distance A is maximized.

[0085] Through the three sensors 333, the position of the second driver 331 can be flexibly controlled by PLC, and the positions of the two ends can be accurately controlled based on the origin.

[0086] In some embodiments, referring to Figures 1 to 4 , the second moving assembly 330 includes a guide rod 334 extending along the Z-axis and a fixing bracket 335. The guide rod 334 is disposed on the movable member 332. The fixing bracket 335 is movably disposed on the guide rod 334, and the first temperature probe 310 is fixed to the fixing bracket 335.

[0087] Specifically, the guide rod 334 can be generally disposed at the end of the movable member 332 to prevent collision between the protruding movable member 332 and the object under test 900. The first temperature probe 310 is fixed to the fixing bracket 335. The micro switch 410 can be mounted on the fixing bracket 335 using a bolt or other structure and is located on one or both sides of the first temperature probe 310 along the X-axis.

[0088] In this way, when the first movable assembly 320 and the second movable assembly 330 adjust the distance in the X-axis direction and the Y-axis direction, and the fixed frame 335 adjusts the distance along the Z-axis direction relative to the guide rod 334, the micro switch 410 can adjust the position in the X-axis direction, the Y-axis direction and the Z-axis direction together with the first temperature probe 310, and the micro switch 410 and the first temperature probe 310 remain relatively fixed, ensuring that the micro switch 410 can detect the workpiece 900 on the conveying unit 100 before the first temperature probe 310, thereby preventing collision.

[0089] In some embodiments, the trigger unit 400 further includes an alarm device (not shown), and the controller controls the connection of the alarm device.

[0090] Specifically, when the distance A between the first detection unit 300 and the test piece 900 is lower than a preset distance value, the controller controls the conveying unit 100 to stop conveying, and can control the alarm device to issue a corresponding alarm to remind the operator to troubleshoot the fault.

[0091] In some embodiments, referring to FIG. 1 and FIG. 4 , the detection mechanism further includes a third detection unit 600 ; the third detection unit 600 is disposed on the top of the rack 500 and is used to perform insulation withstand voltage detection on the electrode terminals 910 on the top surface of the DUT 900 .

[0092] During the insulation withstand voltage test, the third testing unit 600 applies a voltage to the DUT 900 for a specified period of time. The unit then checks to see if the leakage current remains within a specified range, thereby determining whether the positive and negative terminals of the battery cell are short-circuited. Typically, the applied voltage is between 800 and 1500V.

[0093] In some embodiments, referring to Figures 1 and 4, the third detection unit 600 includes a probe board 610, a fixed plate 620 and a third driver 630; the fixed plate 620 is mounted on the top of the frame 500; the probe board 610 is movably arranged relative to the fixed plate 620, and the third driver 630 is used to drive the probe board 610 to approach or move away from the electrode terminal 910 on the top surface of the device to be tested 900 along the Z-axis direction; the probe board 610 is used to perform insulation withstand voltage detection on the electrode terminal 910 on the top surface of the device to be tested 900.

[0094] The probe card 610 may be a metal conductor plate, such as a copper plate, a copper-clad steel plate, an aluminum plate, etc.

[0095] The probe plate 610 is located below the fixing plate 620 along the Z-axis direction and is movably arranged.

[0096] The third driver 630 can be a cylinder or a motor. The fixed plate 620 can be provided with a guide cylinder 621. One end of a guide post 640 is connected to the probe plate 610. The guide post 640 can be inserted into the guide cylinder 621. When the third driver 630 drives the probe plate 610, the guide post 640 is guided by the guide cylinder 621 so that the probe plate 610 approaches or moves away from the electrode terminal 910 on the top surface of the device under test 900 along the Z-axis direction.

[0097] Thus, when the probe card 610 contacts the electrode terminals 910 of the device under test 900, a power supply component (not shown) in the third detection unit 600 applies a preset voltage to the probe card 610 for a predetermined period of time. The voltage is then tested to see if the leakage current remains within a specified range, thereby determining whether the positive and negative electrodes of the battery cell are short-circuited. In this embodiment, the preset voltage is 1000V.

[0098] When the insulation withstand voltage test is completed, the probe card 610 moves upward along the Z-axis direction and separates from the electrode terminals 910 of the device under test 900 .

[0099] In some embodiments, the second detection unit 200 is disposed on the probe card 610 ; when the probe card 610 is close to the electrode terminal 910 on the top surface of the DUT 900 , the second detection unit 200 performs temperature detection on the electrode terminal 910 on the top surface of the DUT 900 .

[0100] Specifically, when the probe board 610 contacts the electrode terminal 910 of the test piece 900, the second temperature probe 210 of the second detection unit 200 also contacts the electrode terminal 910, and the third detection unit 600 performs an insulation withstand voltage test on the test piece 900, and the second temperature probe 210 of the second detection unit 200 performs temperature detection on the electrode terminal 910 on the top surface of the test piece 900, thereby improving the detection efficiency and improving the production cycle; at the same time, different detection mechanisms in related technologies can also be combined to enable the detection mechanism of this application to achieve three uses in one machine.

[0101] In some embodiments, the second detection unit 200 includes at least one second temperature probe 210 .

[0102] Typically, there are 2 to 10 second temperature probes 210 distributed on the second detection unit 200, depending on the number of electrode assemblies in the battery cell. Each second temperature probe 210 is individually connected to the controller signal. When the probe card 610 contacts the electrode terminals 910 of the device under test 900, the multiple second temperature probes 210 can measure the temperature of the terminals on different electrode assemblies.

[0103] In various embodiments of the present application, the second temperature probe 210 may be a contact temperature probe, which has the advantages of high detection accuracy and high temperature resistance.

[0104] In some other embodiments, the second temperature probe 210 may also be an infrared temperature probe, depending on the specific design.

[0105] A second aspect of the present application provides a battery production line, comprising the above-mentioned detection mechanism.

[0106] The technical features of the above-mentioned embodiments can be combined arbitrarily. In order to make the description concise, not all possible combinations of the technical features in the above-mentioned embodiments are described. However, as long as there is no contradiction in the combination of these technical features, they should be considered to be within the scope of this specification.

While the descriptions are relatively specific and detailed, they should not be construed as limiting the scope of the patent application.
