[0048] Unless specified or limited otherwise, the terms “mounted, ” “connected, ” “supported, ” and “coupled” and variations thereof are used broadly and encompass both direct and indirect mountings, connections, supports, and couplings. Further, “connected” and “coupled” are not restricted to physical or mechanical connections or couplings.

[0049] Also, it is to be understood that phraseology and terminology used herein with reference to device or element orientation (such as, for example, terms like “central, ” “upper, ” “lower, ” “front, ” “rear, ” and the like) are only used to simplify description of the present disclosure, and do not alone indicate or imply that the device or element referred to must have a particular orientation.

[0050] In addition, terms such as “first” and “second” are used herein for purposes of description and are not intended to indicate or imply relative importance or significance.

[0051] Embodiments of the present disclosure provide an embedding assembly 100. As shown in Figs. 1-12, the embedding assembly 100 includes a base 1, a cooling section 2, a heating section 3, a driving assembly, one or more carriers 7, a mold 8 and a cassette 9.

[0052] The base 1 includes a recess 11 and a peripheral portion 12 surrounding the recess 11, as shown in the illustrated embodiment of Fig. 1. In an embodiment, the recess 11 is disposed in the middle of the base 1. The cooling section 2 and the heating section 3 are arranged on the  peripheral portion 12. In the illustrated embodiment, the cooling section 2 and the heating section 3 are adjacent to each other, and encircle the recess 11 together. In the illustrated embodiment, each of the cooling section 2 and the heating section 3 is centralized and continuous.

[0053] In the illustrated embodiment, the driving assembly is arranged in the recess 11. The driving assembly includes a driving disk 4, a driven disk 5 and a transmission belt 6, the driving disk 5 and the driven disk 6 are rotatably connected to the base 1, arranged in the recess 11 and spaced apart from each other, the transmission belt 6 is fitted over and supported by the driving disk 4 and the driven disk 5, and configured to rotate under the drive of the driving disk 4 and further to drive the driven disk 5 to rotate.

[0054] For example, the driving disk 4 and the driven disk 5 are spaced apart from each other to tension the transmission belt 6, so that the driving disk 4 can drive the transmission belt 6 to rotate via friction, and the transmission belt 6 can further drive the driven disk 5 to rotate via friction. In this case, the outer peripheral surface of the driving disk 4 may be unsmooth to increase the friction between the driving disk 4 and the transmission belt 6. Likewise, the outer peripheral surface of the driven disk 5 may also be unsmooth to increase the friction between the driven disk 5 and the transmission belt 6. Thus, the transmission between the driving disk 4 and the transmission belt 6 and between the driven disk 5 and the transmission belt 6 can be ensured.

[0055] In an embodiment, the driving disk 4 drives the transmission belt 6 to rotate in other manners. For example, the driving disk 4 may have teeth on its outer peripheral surface, the transmission belt 6 may have teeth on its inner peripheral surface, and the teeth of the driving disk 4 may be engaged with the teeth of the transmission belt 6, so that the driving disk 4 can drive the transmission belt 6 to rotate. Further, the driven disk 5 may also have teeth on its outer peripheral surface, and the transmission belt 6 may also drive the driven disk 5 in a same manner.

[0056] In some embodiments, the driving assembly can include a motor fixed to the base 1, the motor may be arranged in the recess 11 and have an output shaft. The driving disk 4 may be connected to the output shaft of the motor and configured to rotate relative to the base 1 under the drive of the output shaft of the motor.

[0057] The one or more carriers 7 are arranged to attach to the transmission belt 6. In the illustrated embodiment, a plurality of carriers 7 are attached to a side surface of the transmission belt 6 facing away from the driving disk 4 and the driven disk 5. The one or more carriers 7 are slidably supported on the cooling section 2 and the heating section 3. In an embodiment, the plurality of carrier 7 are spaced apart from each other along the transmission belt 6 (e.g., over at least a portion of the cooling section 2) . In an embodiment, the plurality of carrier 7 are configured to move along with the transmission belt 6.

[0058] In some embodiments, the carrier 7 is supported over the cooling section 2 or the heating section 3 and can move along with the transmission belt 6 relative to the cooling section 2 or the heating section 3. In an embodiment, the carrier 7 is in slidable contact with the cooling section 2 or the heating section 3, so that the carrier 7 can move on the cooling section 2 or the heating section 3 while being cooled by the cooling section 2 or heated by the heating section 3. Thus, a liquid embedding material such as a liquid paraffin in the mold 8 arranged in the carrier 7 can be cooled or heated as required.

[0059] In an embodiment, the mold 8 and the cassette 9 are arranged in at least one of the plurality of carriers 7. The cassette 9 is arranged in the mold 8. The cassette 9 is configured to receive a tissue sample. In some embodiments, during embedding, each of the plurality of carriers 7 may receive the mold 8 and the cassette 9 therein for different phases of embedding.

[0060] In the embodiments, the plurality of carriers 7 carried with the molds 8 and the cassettes 9 can be moved along with, and / or by, the transmission belt 6, so as to move the molds 8 carried with the cassettes 9 from the heating section 3 to the cooling section 2, and vice versa. Further, each of the cooling section 2 and the heating section 3 is centralized and continuous. Thus, the molds 8 carried with the cassettes 9 can be heated on the heating section 3 and cooled on the cooling section 2 synchronously, and do not need to be heated or cooled separately, thus improving the efficiency of the embedding process.

[0061] In the illustrated embodiments of Figs. 3-5, the cooling section 2 includes a cooling plate 21 and a cooling tube 22. The cooling plate 21 is arranged on the base 1. The plurality of carriers 7 are configured to be slidably supported on the cooling plate 21 when moving along with the transmission belt 6. The cooling tube 22 is arranged below the cooling plate 21 and between the base 1 and the cooling plate 21. The cooling tube 22 is configured to receive and circulate a fluid (e.g., a coolant) therein so as to cool the cooling plate 21, so that the cooling plate 21 can be cooled and hence further cool the molds 8 carried with the cassettes 9 and filled with the paraffin. The cooling tube 22 extends substantially over a whole length of the cooling plate 21, so that the cooling section 2 is centralized and / or continuous. It is appreciated that, in some embodiments, the cooling section 2 may be configured to provide temperature control of any temperature and not limited to cooling. For example, the cooling plate 21 may be configured to receive a heat transfer fluid (e.g., a liquid, a gas, a mixture of liquid and gas, a refrigerant, a refrigerant mixture, or the like) . The heat transfer fluid may be provided to the cooling plate 21 for exchanging thermal energy with the cooling plate 21 and / or objects exchanging heat with the cooling plate 21 (e.g., the mold 8 cassettes 9, or the transmission belt 6, the like. ) The heat transfer fluid may be provided to the cooling tube 22.

[0062] In an embodiment, at least two cooling tubes 22 are arranged below different parts of the cooling plate 21, respectively, and the at least two cooling tubes 22 are configured to receive and / or circulate the coolant therein independently of each other, so that the different parts of the cooling plate 21 can be cooled independently according to requirements, and also the continuity of the cooling section 2 is further improved. In an embodiment, the cooling tube (s) 22 can be arranged below the entirety of the cooling plate 21 and / or configured to exchange thermal energy with the entire cooling plate 21.

[0063] It may be understood that the coolant may be provided from a cooling source to the cooling tube 22 to be circulated in the cooling tube 22, cooling the cooling plate 21. The cooling tube 22 may include an inlet and an outlet, the coolant may enter the cooling tube 22 via the inlet and exit the cooling tube 22 via the outlet. The cooling tube 22 may be formed to track the inner and / or outer perimeter of the cooling plate 21 (e.g., bent one or more times into a shape matches with at least part of that of the cooling section 2) , so as to cooling at least a corresponding part of the cooling plate 21 of the cooling section 2.

[0064] In some embodiments, the cooling plate 21 may be continuously cooled by the cooling tube 22, so that the cooling plate 21 can keep a low temperature below 0 ℃, such as -7 ℃. Thus, when the mold 8 moves on the cooling plate 21, the mold 8 can be cooled by the cooling plate 21 immediately, without waiting for the cooling plate 21 to be cooled to a certain temperature. Therefore, the cooling efficiency of the cooling section 2 on the mold 8 is improved.

[0065] In the illustrated embodiment of Figs. 3-5, the cooling plate 21 includes two connecting portions (e.g., curved portions, two opposite semicircle portions 211, or the like) and one straight portion 212 connected between a first end of one of the connecting portions (e.g., the two opposite semicircle portions 211) and an opposite first end of the other one of the two opposite semicircle portions 211. For example, openings of the two semicircle portions 211 face towards each other, and the straight portion 212 is connected between upper ends of the two semicircle portions 211, when viewed from above, as shown in Fig. 3.

[0066] In an embodiment, the embedding assembly 100 includes a first connector 23 arranged below a joint of the straight portion 212 and either one of the two opposite semicircle portions 211. For example, two first connectors 23 are provided and each is arranged below the joint of the straight portion 212 and either one of the two opposite semicircle portions 211. The first connector 23 includes a plate (e.g., a first flat plate 231) and a bracket (e.g., a first L-shaped bracket 232) . The first flat plate 231 connects the straight portion 212 with either one of the two opposite semicircle portions 211. For example, one or more fasteners (e.g., screws, bolts, adhesive, soldering, locking elements, or the like) may fixedly connect the first flat plate 231 and  the straight portion 212 (e.g., by passing through a portion of the first flat plate 231 and the straight portion 212) . Another one or more screws or bolts may pass through another portion of the first flat plate 231 and either one of the two opposite semicircle portions 211, so that the first flat plate 231 connects the straight portion 212 with either one of the two opposite semicircle portions 211. Thus, the cooling section 2 can made up of separate parts so as to reduce the manufacturing cost.

[0067] In an embodiment, the first L-shaped plate 232 includes a short portion and a long portion. The short portion of the first L-shaped plate 232 is connected to the base 1 through a fastener (for example, a screw or bolt) . The long portion of the first L-shaped plate 232 is connected with the first flat plate 231 through a fastener (for example, a screw or bolt) . Thus, the cooling section 2 made up of the separate parts can be stably connected to and supported on the base 1, so as to ensure the stability of embedding performed on the cooling section 2 and the heating section 3.

[0068] In some embodiments, as shown in Figs. 3-5, the heating section 3 includes a heating plate 31 and a heat source 32. The heat source 32 is arranged below the heating plate 31 and configured to heat the heating plate 31, so that the heating plate 31 can heat the mold 8 arranged in the carrier 7 thereon, and the liquid embedding material (for example, the liquid paraffin) can be dispensed into the heated mold 8 from a dispenser located above the heating section 3, thus preventing the liquid paraffin from solidifying and allowing the liquid paraffin to fully fill the mold 8. It is appreciated that, in some embodiments, the heating section 3 may be configured to provide temperature control of any temperature and not limited to heating. For example, the heating plate 31 may be configured to receive a heat transfer fluid (e.g., a liquid, a gas, a mixture of liquid and gas, a refrigerant, a refrigerant mixture, or the like) . The heat transfer fluid may be provided to the heating plate 31 for exchanging thermal energy with the heating plate 31 and / or objects exchanging heat with the heating plate 31 (e.g., the mold 8 cassettes 9, or the transmission belt 6, the like. ) . The heat transfer fluid may be provided as the heat source 32 by a conduit.

[0069] In an embodiment, the heating plate 31 is thermally insulated from the cooling section 2. For example, the heating plate 31 is spaced apart from the cooling section 2 by a gap on both sides in a circumferential direction of the base 1, so that and thus the heating plate 31 and the cooling section 2 are thermally insulated from each other.

[0070] In an embodiment, the heating plate 31 is connected between a second end of one of the two opposite semicircle portions 211 and an opposite second end of the other one of the two opposite semicircle portions 211. For example, the heating plate 31 is connected between lower ends of the two opposite semicircle portions 211, when viewed from above, as shown in Fig. 3.

[0071] In an embodiment, the embedding assembly 100 includes a second connector 24 arranged  below a joint of the heating plate 31 and either one of the two opposite semicircle portions 211, i.e., two second connectors 24 are provided and each is arranged below the joint of the heating plate 31 and either one of the two opposite semicircle portions 211. The second connector 24 includes a second flat plate 241 and a second L-shaped bracket 242. The second flat plate 241 connects the heating plate 31 with either one of the two opposite semicircle portions 211. For example, one or more screws or bolts may pass through a portion of the second flat plate 241 and the heating plate 31, and another one or more screws or bolts may pass through another portion of the second flat plate 241 and either one of the two opposite semicircle portions 211, so that the second flat plate 241 connects the heating plate 31 with either one of the two opposite semicircle portions 211. Thus, the cooling section 2 can be firmly assembled with the heating section 3 to form a closed-loop structure, along which the plurality of carriers 7 carried with the molds 8 can be moved, thus ensuring the embedding to be performed smoothly.

[0072] It is appreciated that a short portion of the second L-shaped plate 242 is connected to the base 1 through a fastener (for example, a screw or bolt) , and a long portion of the second L-shaped plate 242 is connected with the second flat plate 241 through a fourth fastener (for example, another screw or bolt) . Thus, the cooling section 2 and the heating section 3 assembled together can be stably connected to and supported on the base 1, so as to ensure the stability of embedding performed on the cooling section 2 and the heating section 3.

[0073] In some embodiments, the second flat plate 241 and the second L-shaped shape 242 may be made of one or more thermally-insulated materials, so as to further ensure that the heating plate 31 is thermally insulated from the cooling section 2, and thus the heating plate 31 and the cooling section 2 are thermally insulated from each other.

[0074] In some embodiments, the embedding assembly 100 may further include another connector arranged in middle of either one of the two opposite semicircle portions 211, and this connector may have a same structure as the first connector 23 and the second connector 24, so as to improve the structural strength of the cooling section 2 and also increase the stability of the assembled cooling section 2 and heating section 3 being supported on the base 1.

[0075] In some embodiments, the heating plate 31 may include a guide groove 310 in a top surface thereof, and the guide groove 310 has a drain hole 311 in a bottom surface thereof. Thus, the remaining paraffin on the heating section 3 can be drained through the guide groove 310 and the drain hole 311. Therefore, the heating section 3 and the cooling section 2 can be kept clean.

[0076] In some embodiments, two heating plates 31 may be arranged and spaced apart from each other in a radial direction of the base 1, and the guide groove may be defined between the two heating plates 31.

[0077] In some embodiments, the heating section 3 has a plurality of processing positions spaced apart from each other on the heating plate 31, and the plurality of carriers 7 are configured to be moved to the plurality of processing positions, when the transmission belt 6 rotates, so that a bottom of the cassette 9 can be detached from the mold 8, and the liquid paraffin can be dispensed into the mold 8 carried with the cassette 9, as described below.

[0078] In some embodiments, the peripheral portion 12 includes two or more end members (e.g., two opposite semicircle segments 121) and two or more side members (e.g., two opposite straight segments 122) connected between the two or more end members (e.g. two opposite semicircle segments 121) . In an embodiment, the two opposite semicircle segments 121 and the two opposite straight segments 122 are connected end to end, so as to form the peripheral portion 12. The cooling plate 21 can be arranged on the two opposite semicircle segments 121 and one of the two opposite straight segments 122, and the heating plate 31 is arranged on the other one of the two opposite straight segments 122. For example, the two opposite semicircle portions 211 are arranged on the two opposite semicircle segments 121, respectively, the straight portion 212 is arranged on one of the two opposite straight segments 122, and the heating plate 31 is arranged on the other one of the two opposite straight segments 122, so that the cooling plate 21 and the heating plate 31 can be stably arranged and supported on the peripheral portion 12 of the base 1, thus ensuring the stability of the embedding performed on the cooling section 2 and the heating section 3.

[0079] It may be understood that the cooling plate 21 and the heating plate 31 may have shapes corresponding to the respective segments of the peripheral portion 12, so that the cooling plate 21 and the heating plate 31 can be more stably arranged and supported on the peripheral portion 12 of the base 1, thus further ensuring the stability of the embedding performed on the cooling section 2 and the heating section 3.

[0080] In an illustrated embodiment of Fig. 9, the embedding assembly 100 includes a transfer device 10 configured to receive a plurality of cassettes 9 carried with the tissue samples therein and to supply the plurality of cassettes 9 into the molds 8 in the plurality of carriers 7 during embedding. in an embodiment, the plurality of cassettes 9 may be placed in the transfer device 10 in advance and then transferred for subsequent embedding. In an embodiment, the plurality of cassettes 9 can be transferred in batch, so as to improve the efficiency of transferring the plurality of cassettes 9 and the efficiency of embedding the plurality of cassettes 9. in an embodiment, the cassette 9 can be placed into the transfer device 10 and taken out of the transfer device 10 manually or by a gripper (e.g., a robot arm) , which is not limited herein. It is appreciated that the transfer device 10 can be a basket, column, holder, or the like.

[0081] In an embodiment, the transfer device 10 includes a shelf 101, the shelf 101 has a plurality of cavities 102 for receiving the plurality of cassettes 9, and the plurality of cavities 102 are arranged in rows and columns. It may be understood that one cavity 102 may receive one cassette 9 or more than one cassette 9, which is also not limited herein.

[0082] In some embodiments (e.g., as shown in Figs. 1-2 and in Figs. 6-8) , the base 1 includes a guide rail 13 surrounding the recess 11. A first end of a carrier 7 is fixed to the transmission belt 6 and slidably connected to the guide rail 13. A second end of the carrier 7 is a free end and defines an opening 71 to receive the mold 8 and the cassette 9. Thus, the carrier 7 can be moved stably and smoothly on the base 1 along the guide rail 13 under the drive of the transmission belt 6. In an embodiment, a first end of each of the carriers 7 is fixed to the transmission belt 6 and a second end of each of the carriers 7 is fixed.

[0083] In an embodiment, the carrier 7 includes a belt connector (e.g., a vertical connector 72) connecting the carrier (s) 7 to connect the carrier 7 to the transmission belt 6 (e.g., by fastener (s) , adhesive, and / or the like) . In the illustrated embodiment, a first end of the belt connector (e.g., a lower end of the vertical connector 72) is connected with the first end of the carrier 7 and rest of the vertical connector 72 is connected with a connection portion 61 on the transmission belt 6. For example, the rest of the vertical connector 72 has at least one hole (e.g., three holes) , the connection portion 61 is a protrusion arranged on the transmission belt 6, and a screw or bolt may pass through the at least one hole of the vertical connector 72 and further into the connection portion 61, so as to connect the vertical connector 72 with the connection portion 61.

[0084] In an embodiment, the carrier 7 includes one or more pulleys 73 to slidably connecting the carrier 7 to the guide rail 13. In an embodiment, the carrier 7 includes four pulleys 73 arranged to and below the first end of the carrier 7 and arranged in two rows and two columns, two of the four pulleys 73 are arranged on a side of the guide rail 13 and the other two of the four pulleys 73 are arranged on an opposite side of the guide rail 13 in the radial direction of the base 1, so that the four pulleys 73 slidably clamps the guide rail 13. For example, the four pulleys 73 are connected to the first end of the carrier 7 and located below the first end of the carrier 7, and arranged in two rows spaced apart from each other in the radial direction of the base 1, that is, two pulleys 73 are arranged in each row. Thus, the two rows of pulleys 73 clamp the guide rail 13 therebetween, and each pulley 73 is in a slidable contact with the guide rail 13, so that the carrier 7 can be moved stably and smoothly on the base 1 along the guide rail 13 under the drive of the transmission belt 6, thus ensuring the stability and smoothness of embedding.

[0085] As shown in Figs. 10-12, the mold 8 includes a cavity 81 configured to receive the cassette 9, and a step 82 arranged on an inner wall of the cavity 81 of the mold 8. The cassette 9 includes a  frame 91, a lid 92 and a bottom 93. The frame 91 is arranged on the step 82, and the lid 92 and the bottom 93 are received in the frame 91, connected with the frame 91 and configured to move relative to the frame 91 in a vertical direction. The lid 92 is in contact with a part of the bottom 93, so that the lid 92 and the bottom 93 can be pushed to move downwards together. The bottom 93 is configured to be detached from the frame 91 when pushed beyond the step 82 into the cavity 81 of the mold 8, while the lid 92 is configured to keep being connected with the frame 91 when the bottom 93 is pushed beyond the step 82 into the cavity 81 of the mold 8.

[0086] For example, when the cassette 9 is placed in the cavity 81 of the mold 8, the frame 91 of the cassette 9 is arranged on the step 82, and the lid 92 and the bottom 93 can be pushed downwards to move together relative to the frame 91, until the bottom 93 is pushed beyond the step 82 into the cavity 81 of the mold 8. At this time, the bottom 93 is detached from the frame 91, while the lid 92 keeps being connected with the frame 91, as shown in Fig. 11. In this case, the obtained paraffin block includes the lid 92, but does not include the bottom 93, so that the lid 92 will support the paraffin block and hence increase the structural stability of the paraffin block, and the bottom 93 will not affect the cutting of the paraffin block, thus ensuring the embedding to be performed smoothly.

[0087] It may be understood that a part of the cavity 81 under the step 82 should have a shape similar to that of the bottom 93, so that the bottom 93 can be detached from the frame 91, and the lid 92 can keep being connected with the frame 91, when the bottom 93 is pushed beyond the step 82 into the cavity 81.

[0088] In an embodiment, the frame 91 may include a guide groove in its inner surface, the lid 92 and the bottom 93 may have a guide protrusion at their periphery, and the guide protrusion is slidably fitted in the guide groove, so that the lid 92 and the bottom 93 can slide stably and smoothly in the frame 91 under the guide of the guide groove and the guide protrusion.

[0089] In some embodiments, the plurality of carries 7 are configured to receive different types of molds 8 and different types of cassettes 9, and the different types of molds 8 correspond to the different types of cassettes 9 in shape and size. Thus, the embedding assembly 100 according to the embodiments of the present disclosure can satisfy the embedding requirements of tissue samples having different shapes and sizes.

[0090] Embodiments of the present disclosure also provide an embedding method. As shown in Fig. 13, the embedding method is applied to the embedding assembly 100 according to any one of the above embodiments of the present disclosure, and includes the following steps.

[0091] In step S100, the cassette carried with the tissue sample is loaded into the mold in the carrier at a loading position in the heating section 3.

[0092] The mold 8 may be placed in the carrier 7 in advance, and the cassette 9 carried with the tissue sample may be loaded into the mold 8 in the carrier 7 from the transfer device 10.

[0093] In step S200, a liquid embedding material is dispensed into the mold arranged in the carrier at a dispensing position in the heating section, to immerse the tissue sample in the cassette.

[0094] After the cassette 9 is loaded into the mold 8, the mold 8 is moved by the carrier 7 from the loading position to the dispensing position, and the liquid embedding material may be dispensed into the mold 8 at the dispensing position, to immerse the tissue sample in the cassette 9.

[0095] In step S300, the mold filled with the liquid embedding material is moved from the heating section to the cooling section via the carrier.

[0096] After the mold 8 is full of the liquid embedding material, the mold 8 is moved from the heating section 3 to the cold section 2 under the drive of the carrier 7.

[0097] In step S400, the liquid embedding material in the mold is cooled and solidified to form an embedding material block at the cooling section.

[0098] The liquid embedding material in the mold 8 is cooled and solidified at the cooling section 2, so as to form the embedding material block. It may be understood that when the liquid embedding material in the mold 8 is cooled and solidified at the cooling section 2, the mold 8 may being moved, for example, the transmission belt 6 rotates to move another mold 8 carried in another carrier 7 from the loading position to the dispending position or from the heating section 3 to the cooling section 2, or may stop being moved, for example, the transmission belt 6 stops rotating to allow another cassette 9 to be loaded into another mold 8 or allow the liquid embedding material to be dispensed into another mold 8.

[0099] In step S500, the embedding material block is detached from the mold at an end of the cooling section adjacent to the heating section.

[0100] When the mold 8 is moved to a block detaching position at the end of the cooling section 2 adjacent to the heating section 3, the transmission belt 6 stops rotating and the embedding material block is detached from the mold 8.

[0101] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the embedding method further includes loading a plurality of cassettes 9 into the transfer device 10 in advance and loading the plurality of cassettes 9 into the molds 8 in the plurality of carriers 7 in sequence during embedding.

[0102] That is, the plurality of cassettes 9 may be loaded into the transfer device 10 in advance, and loaded into the molds 8 in the plurality of carriers 7 in sequence during embedding according to a set pace. For example, after the mold 8 just filled with the liquid embedding material is moved from the heating section 3 to the cooling section 2, another cassette 9 may be loaded from the transfer device 10 into the mold 8 in the carrier 7 at the loading position.

[0103] Thus, the plurality of cassettes 9 can be embedded continuously in sequence.

[0104] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, before the liquid embedding material is dispensed into the mold 8 arranged in the carrier 7 at the dispensing position in the heating section 3, the lid 92 and the bottom 93 are pushed downwards until the bottom 93 is moved beyond the step 82 into the cavity 81 of the mold 8.

[0105] Accordingly, the embedding material block which is finally obtained does not include the bottom 93, and the embedding material block without the bottom 93 is detached from the mold 8 at the end of the cooling section 2 adjacent to the heating section 3.

[0106] Moreover, after the embedding material block is detached from the mold 8 at the end of the cooling section 2 adjacent to the heating section 3, the mold 8 is further moved to the heating section 3 to heat and melt the residual embedding material, and hence the bottom 93 can be detached from the mold 8 at a bottom detaching position in the heating section 3.

[0107] Thus, the mold 8 from which the bottom 93 is detached is ready to receive another cassette 9 for embedding such cassette 9 in the above same process.
