The method comprises the following steps of: judging whether a VRRPv2 router and a VRRPv3 router exist in the same VRRP group or not according to the acquired VRRP information, wherein the VRRP information comprises identifiers of the VRRP routers, an identifier ofthe VRRP group and a VRRP version; and if so, inhibiting the transmission of a VRRPv3 message in the preset time and otherwise, inhibiting the transmission of a VRRPv2 message in the preset time, wherein each router comprises a judgment module and an inhibition module.
