Problems solved by technology

This approach is increasingly being abandoned, on the one hand because, apart from the cost, these antibiotics have the disadvantage that they are most of the time the object of regulation by regulatory agencies, and on the other hand, because this is in line with the increased consumption of consumers "natural ”The demand for products or even products obtained through organic farming are farther apart

[0074] Ruminal fluid is collected from cattle.

[0075] A 1:1 (by volume) solution of rumen fluid and buffer was then prepared.

[0076] 50 ml of said solution was introduced into a polypropylene tube.

[0077] (dry matter basis) prepared from alfalfa hay (34.7%), ryegrass hay (14.8%), ground barley kernels (11.4%), ground corn kernels (11.4%), soybean oil cake (1.6%), cottonseed (7.9%), corn gluten (11.6%), molasses (3.2%), fatty acid calcium salt (1.3%) and mineral and vitamin premix (2.1%).

[0078] Concentrated feeds are prepared consisting of corn, soybean oil cake, wheat, and optionally other raw materials that typically go into concentrated feed compositions.

[0079] 300 mg ration, 200 mg concentrate (which is equivalent to a 60 / 40 mixture of ration and concentrate) and 6.25 mg food supplement were introduced into polypropylene tubes, i.e. 250 mg of 1 / 1 mixture of rumen fluid / buffer solution was added per 11 parts things.

Abstract

The invention relates to a food additive including: 30 to 45 % of eugenol; 30 to 45 % of cinnamaldehyde; 10 to 40 % of extract of a plant belonging to the alliaceous family; the remainder up to 100 % optionally comprising other compounds, in particular, organosulphur compounds. Such an additive can be added to the feed for certain animals, in particular bovines, with a view to reducing the methane production thereof. The invention also relates to a method for reducing methane emissions into the earth's atmosphere, which includes the following steps: adding a food additive according to the invention to the food ration of a ruminant; and feeding the ruminant the obtained food ration.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a food supplement comprising eugenol, cinnamaldehyde and Alliaceae extract in specific proportions. This supplement can be added to the feed of certain animals, especially bovines, to reduce their methane production. Background technique [0002] It is now well known that livestock produce more greenhouse gases than vehicles. [0003] Ruminants in particular are thought to be responsible for 18% of methane emissions, which according to experts at Giec (Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Climate Change) is 23 times more greenhouse than carbon dioxide . [0004] According to Argentine scientists, a cow of about 550 kg basically emits between 800 and 1000 liters of gas, mainly methane, per day through eructation. [0005] The result is that protecting the environment has become a major constraint on agriculture, and some American countries are considering increasingly stringent taxes on methane produced by dairy cows...
