An embodiment of the present invention provides a selfie method that is applied to a mobile terminal with a rear camera. The selfie method comprises the steps of starting the rear camera so as to enter a selfie mode; establishing a connection with an external device, and previewing a to-be-photographed image in real time by using the external device; and if it is detected that a shutter is triggered, performing photographing. An embodiment of the present invention further provides a mobile terminal. According to the selfie method and the mobile terminal, the rear camera is used for selfie, the to-be-photographed image is previewed in real time through the connected external device, so that it is convenient for a user to perform selfie by using the rear camera.
