According to embodiments of the present disclosure, a method, apparatus, device and medium for recognizing characters in an image are provided. A method for recognizing characters in an image comprises: extracting a feature representation of the image; determining a plurality of corresponding attention feature representations for a plurality of character recognition models by applying an attention mechanism to the feature representation, the plurality of character recognition models being respectively configured to recognize a plurality of types of characters; and utilizing a plurality of character recognition models to separately process a plurality of attentional feature representations to recognize characters associated with the plurality of types in an image. In this way, desired characters in an image can be recognized more directly, accurately and quickly.
