Abstract

PURPOSE: A mobile terminal, a location management apparatus and a location registration method are provided to save communication resources in a situation that a large amount of local location registration requests are generated within a short time such as a commuter subway or train in a downtown area. CONSTITUTION: A mobile unit(60) transmits detected results of a movement direction and speed to a location management unit(20). The location management unit(20) estimates a performing area of the mobile unit(60) based on the detected results and transmits area identification information, namely, the estimation result, as a location registration request to a location registration unit(10). The location registration unit(10) updates a location of the mobile unit(60) in a registration location DB, determines an area, namely, a transmitting place of a location registration response, and transmits it. Upon receiving the location registration response, a location management unit(30) transmits the location registration response to the mobile unit(60) as a performing area of the mobile unit(60). By doing that, the mobile unit(60) is informed that transmission of the location registration request by the mobile unit(60) is not necessary, and thus, transmission of the location registration request is prevented in advance.
