Embodiment Construction

[0032] The receiver receives identification data of the audiovisual content from the return channel 6 or the broadcast network. This data includes displayable elements such as title or credits images. Using the EPG and remote control buttons, the user selects one or more files to receive and record them on the recording device 9 .

[0033] figure 2The content-on-demand (CoD) server 20 described in includes: a central processing unit 21; a program memory 22 containing an ACCP program on the server side; a memory containing an audio-visual database 23 in a storage area, which is preferably accessed via a hard disk or a SAN and a two-way communication interface 24 for establishing two-way communication with the previously described receiver 1 via the two-way network 6. It is worth noting that the audiovisual database 23 contains a catalog of available files. The CoD server is also in contact with the broadcast network manager via the one-way communication interface 25 . It s...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for receiving audiovisual programs sent by a server to at least two reception devices. Initially, a first user requests a document from the server that establishes a unicast stream to download said document. Then, a second user requests to receive the same document, even truncated by a part. The server studies the proposal and possibly, for a lower price, agrees to the download. The server then switches the broadcast of the document from a unicast stream to a multicast stream, the first and second devices receiving said document via the same multicast stream. The invention also relates to a device for receiving audiovisual content and a server for implementing the method.

Description

technical background [0001] The invention relates to a method for receiving audio and / or audiovisual files at the request of a user, a distribution server, and a device implementing the method. Background technique [0002] Broadcasting audiovisual content to multiple users is becoming more and more common today. Various solutions exist for this, such as broadcasting via terrestrial or satellite networks or via data networks. These solutions are currently in full swing, especially with the deployment of numerous networks accessing the Internet at high bit rates via DSL (Digital Subscriber Line). [0003] The broadcasting of live programs over these broadcast networks without the need to query users for features is a mature and well-supported technology. [0004] The network environment of the present invention is an environment of an audio-visual server that can provide audio-visual files on demand, and any device (for example, domestic) that can display audio-visual file...
