Problems solved by technology

For example, a remote technician may not be in close communication with a hospital room, so the remote technician may have difficulty contacting hospital staff
As a result, even a dedicated remote technician monitoring alarms can miss real alarms due to communication issues and distractions

Embodiment Construction

[0021] The present invention provides a system and method for determining noise in ECG lead signals. One or more ECG lead signals are assigned a value from an index indicative of noise therein, thereby enabling an operator to evaluate alarms to determine whether such alarms are signal or device related.

[0022] refer to figure 1 , shows an ECG monitoring system according to an embodiment of the present invention. In this embodiment, an ECG system 10 includes a set of electrodes 12 attached to a subject, a data acquisition system 14 that receives and stores ECG waveform data output from the respective electrodes 12, and a device for processing the acquired ECG waveform data. A data processor 16 and a quality processor 18 for quality analysis will target Figure 2-7 describe them more fully. Additionally, it is contemplated that the ECG monitoring system 100 may also include an arbiter 19 that will address figure 2 Arbiter 19 is described more fully. A system operator may...

Abstract

The invention discloses a system and a method for indicating signal quality and reducing a false alarm in an ECG monitoring system. An electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring system configured to determine an index that comprises a set of indicators, where each indicator is indicative of a level of signal quality in an ECG lead. Further, the ECG monitoring system assigns a first indicator from the set of indicators to a first ECG lead signal and communicates the first indicator to a user.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring systems, and more particularly to determining and indicating the quality of ECG signals. Background technique [0002] ECG monitoring systems can be designed to generate alarms that indicate the patient's physical condition and that the equipment is malfunctioning and / or not functioning properly. EGC monitoring systems may generate "false alarms" that are not due to a medical problem with the patient, but are often based on errors in internal signal processing or from detached or failed leads. In particular, false crisis alerts waste valuable nursing and first responder resources because they can lead to an unnecessary quick response that can divert resources away from other patients. Many ECG systems are capable of reliably detecting failed or detached leads, often notifying the operator of the detached or failed lead via an alarm. Additionally, many ECG systems provide an...
