The initialization method of the optical module comprises the following steps of: setting an initialization voltage threshold of a circuit unit to be initialized; acquiring a power supply voltage value of the circuit unit to be initialized; comparing the initialization voltage threshold of the circuit unit to be initialized with the acquired power supply voltage value; and when the acquired power supply voltage value is greater than the initialization voltage threshold, initializing a corresponding circuit unit by using a master processor of the optical module. The method and device disclosed by the invention can solve the problem that in the prior art, corresponding circuit units of an optical module can not be reliably initialized, thereby influencing the performance of an optical communication network.
