According to the safety rod driving system, the safety rod is positioned at the lower end of a reactor core in power operation on the basis of the characteristics that a liquid heavy metal solution is large in density and an object bears large buoyancy in the liquid heavy metal solution; and under an emergency working condition, the safety rod is inserted into the reactor core by virtue of the buoyancy, and the safe reactor shutdown is realized.
