Abstract

The invention provides a method and apparatus for providing user interface in portable device. According to the method, induced moving-affordance images can be output, and specific functions can be executed at a position where approaching of a touch input device can be sensed. A method for providing user interface in a portable device having a touch screen comprises: checking whether the approaching of the touch input device is sensed in the touch screen; determining the type of the sensed touch input device when the approaching of the touch input device is sensed; as a determined result, when the touch input device serves as a touch pen, a first moving-affordance image corresponding to at least a function executed by using the touch pen is output in an area where the approaching of the touch pen is sensed.
