Problems solved by technology

[0004] However, the problem is that methods based on stippling and hatching cannot sufficiently satisfy the characteristics of hedcut produced by arranging dots or lines of different sizes in the characteristic direction and placing the arranged dots or lines at intervals within a fixed range

Abstract

Disclosed is a method for generating a resultant image as if said image were drawn from an image by an artist, and a device for executing same. The device includes: a first generating unit for generating a vector field relating to the image using a feature pixel in a received image and direction information on the specific pixel; a second generating unit for generating a structure grid using the vector field; a rendering unit for rendering a primitive version that expresses a predetermined tone on the generated structure grid; and an image-generating unit for generating a resultant image by adding a feature line to the result of the primitive version rendering. Accordingly, a resultant image may be quickly generated from one image. This allows a hedcut to be easily generated using one picture, thereby overcoming the limitation of the lengthy period of time a hedcut artist takes to complete one hedcut picture.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an image processing method and device, and more particularly, to an image processing method and a device using a structure grid. Background technique [0002] Hedcut (a drawing technique) is an artistic method for expressing an object by arranging dots or lines of different sizes at fixed intervals according to the feature flow of the object to be depicted. The hedcut has been developed to simulate the look of woodcuts and is widely used to depict portraits in print media such as newspapers, magazines, etc. Because hedcut uses dots or lines to describe objects, the style of hedcut is attractive, and it is also used in various fields other than print media. However, it takes a lot of time when several artists manually generate hedcuts, so this hedcut generation method is difficult to be widely applied. [0003] Since the characteristics of hedcuts, points or lines with different sizes are used to express the tone of th...
