Embodiment Construction

[0038] A detailed description of the illustrative embodiments will now be described with reference to the various figures. While the description provides detailed examples of possible implementations, it should be noted that the details are for illustration and are not intended to limit the scope of the application.

[0039] figure 1 An exemplary wireless local area network (WLAN) device is shown. A WLAN may include, but is not limited to, access points (APs) 102 , stations (STAs) 110 , and STAs 112 . STAs 110 and 112 may be associated with AP 102 . A WLAN may be configured to implement one or more protocols of the IEEE 802.11 communications standard, which may include channel access schemes such as DSSS, OFDM, OFDMA, and the like. A WLAN may operate in a mode, such as infrastructure mode, ad-hoc mode, and the like.

[0040] A WLAN operating in infrastructure mode may include one or more APs in communication with one or more associated STAs. An AP or one or more STAs asso...

Abstract

Systems, methods and means for implementing an interference management method in a WLAN are described. An access point (AP) or an inter-BSS coordinator (IBC) may identify a station (STA) associated with a first basic service set (BSS) as an edge STA or a non-edge STA. The AP or IBC may group edge STAs into edge groups and non-edge STAs into non-edge groups. The AP or IBC may receive information associated with the second BSS. An AP or an IBC may coordinate access of the edge group and / or the non-edge group. The access may be coordinated to minimize interference of the edge STAs. The accessing may be based at least on received information associated with the second BSS. The AP or IBC may adjust the transmit power of multiple STAs identified as edge group STAs and non-edge group STAs.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 61 / 819,233, filed May 3, 2013, and U.S. Provisional Application No. 61 / 877,575, filed September 13, 2013, the contents of which are hereby incorporated by reference. Background technique [0003] Wireless networks (eg IEEE 802.11 based networks) can be deployed in dense environments (eg mesh networks). High-density deployment of such networks can create overlapping Basic Service Sets (BSSs). Simultaneous transmissions from multiple access points (APs) and stations (STAs) in such deployments can cause severe collisions, which can lead to excessive management traffic and reduce throughput. Techniques for reducing interference in such deployments may be inadequate. Contents of the invention [0004] Systems, methods, and means for implementing interference management in wireless local area networks (WLANs) are described. An Access Point (AP) or Int...
