The control method comprises the following steps of: detecting the pollution degree of a filter screen of the air conditioner which is in an on state; judging whether the pollution degree satisfies preset cleaning conditions or not; if the pollution degree satisfies the preset cleaning conditions, starting the infrared heating device for heating the filter screen; judging whether the temperature of the filter screen satisfies the preset pollution cleaning conditions or not; and if the temperature of the filter screen satisfies the preset pollution cleaning conditions, starting the high-temperature steam spraying and washing device for cleaning oil stains. According to the system and the method provided by the invention, the filter screen is heated by virtue of an infrared heating function when the quantity of oil stains is detected to be larger than a certain value; subsequently the filter screen is washed via a high-temperature steam spraying and washing control step; and thus the oil stains of an air conditioner in a kitchen can be automatically cleaned.
