Abstract

The present invention discloses a method for identifying a development direction of strike-slip faults in a sedimentary basin. For the technical defects of the lack of data for the identification of the segmentation movement development direction of the fault zone in the sedimentary basin and the disability of continuous evaluation, the present invention proposes a method for identifying a development direction of strike-slip faults inside the basin. According to the method provided by the present invention, based on a large quantity of seismic geological horizons and fault interpretations, the height difference between uplift and drop along different sections of the strike-slip fault zone is measured, the movement direction of each fault block is identified through the height difference change trend pattern, and the developmental movement direction of the strike-slip fault zone can be comprehensively identified; and the method for identifying the development direction of the strike-slip fault zone provided by the present invention is applicable to a large strike-slip fault zone and the local sections in the sedimentary basin, and provides a technical means for the evaluation on the evolution and segmentation of the strike-slip fault zone.
