Abstract

The invention provides a wind turbine comprising a lightning protection system for providing an electrical conduction path suitable for conducting lightning from a rotor to an electrical ground. The lightning protection system includes a shroud electrically coupled to the wind turbine bearing housing and the forward end of the wind turbine hub and/or the spindle. The shroud forms part of the electrically conductive path to electrically couple the wind turbine rotor to the bearing housing via a short circuit path that bypasses the bearing arrangement.
