Weighting base (1) for weighting a rod-shaped component (2) of a lightning protection system on a flat roof, wherein the weighting base (1) - a lower surface facing the flat roof in the operating position (3), - one of these opposite upper surfaces (4), - an outer surface (5) and - a passage hole extending from the upper to the lower surface (3, 4) for the rod-shaped component (2), characterized in that the passage hole is designed as a passage slot (6) open on one side at the outer surface (5) when viewed from above the upper surface (4) of the ballast base (1), which has a passage opening (7) for the rod-shaped component (2) at its outer slot end interrupting the outer surface (5) and is closed at its inner slot end (8) away from the passage opening (7), and that the upper surface (4) of the ballast base (1) has a step (18) spaced apart from the inner slot end (8) on at least one of its edges (17) adjoining the passage slot (6) and extending from the inner slot end (8) to the outer slot end,at which the distance (a) between the upper surface (4) of the ballast base (1) and the plane spanned by the lower surface (3) of the ballast base (1) in the longitudinal direction of the passage slot (6) towards the passage opening (7) increases such that it is greater than the corresponding distance (b) that the upper surface (3) at the inner end (8) of the slot has to this plane.
