Abstract
Description
A lip cosmetic composition with excellent gloss, color development, usability, and durability of the coating film
[0001] The present disclosure relates to a cosmetic composition for lips having excellent gloss, color development, usability, and durability of a coating film.
[0002] Cross-reference to related applications
[0003] This application claims priority to Republic of Korea Patent Application No. 10-2024-0018704, filed February 7, 2024, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference.
[0004] Various methods have been attempted to improve the long-lasting effect of lip cosmetics. Among the most popular methods are the use of volatile oils, film-forming agents, and high-viscosity pastes. These methods reduce pigment transfer by forming a film after the volatile oil evaporates, or the use of sticky, high-viscosity pastes to physically adhere pigments and prolong the effect. These existing methods have drawbacks, such as dryness of the lips over time, the appearance of flaking, and discomfort due to stickiness.
[0005] Furthermore, the expected appearance effects of these existing methods are limited to matte, semi-matte, and semi-glossy expressions, and they have the limitation of being applicable only to these formulations. Even if they are applied to glossy or glow formulations to exhibit gloss and color lasting effects, the gloss level falls short of that expected from general glow formulations, and the color lasting power is also significantly reduced.
[0006] In glow formulations, where gloss and sheen are the primary external effects, oil-soluble dyes are used together with pigments to achieve a lasting effect through a coloring effect. This method is considered the only method that provides color persistence in glow formulations. Recently, various raw material combination technologies applicable to glow formulations have been attempted, but the lasting effect has not met expectations due to factors such as pigment transfer.

[0070] [Test Example 1] Formulation stability and usability evaluation
[0071] The lipstick compositions of Examples 1 to 5 and Comparative Examples 1 to 6 were evaluated for the items presented in Table 2 below through external appearance observation. Specifically, the dispersion state and formulation stability were evaluated by observing the color dispersion state and the level at which a solid stick was formed cleanly without any scratches, and the color staying power was evaluated by applying an equal amount of each lipstick composition to the inside of the arm, wiping it off with a tissue after 30 minutes, and then checking the level of color remaining.
[0072] In addition, the usability evaluation was conducted on 25 women aged 23-35 years, who used each lipstick composition. The usability evaluation was performed on a 7-point scale for gloss / color expression of the applied film, color durability (the duration of the makeup effect after 5 hours), smooth application, and adhesion, and the average value was expressed.

[0074] From the results in Table 2 above, it was confirmed that Comparative Example 1 containing 25 wt% of diphenyl dimethicone had poor adhesion, was slippery, and had a negative user experience of spreading the contents along the wrinkles of the lips, and that the formulation stability and color / gloss staying power were also poor. Comparative Example 2 containing 12 wt% of diphenyl dimethicone but not containing a silicone acrylate copolymer was found to have poor user experiences in terms of color / gloss staying power, color development, spreadability, and adhesion compared to Example 1 containing a silicone acrylate copolymer. From the results of Examples 1 and 2 and Comparative Examples 3 and 7, the difference in effect according to the weight ratio of the silicone acrylate copolymer and the phenyl-modified silicone was confirmed, and from the results of Examples 3 to 5 and Comparative Examples 4 and 5, the difference in effect according to the weight ratio of the alkyl glyceryl ether-modified silicone and the polyglycerin-modified silicone was confirmed. Additionally, in the case of Comparative Example 8, which did not include a dispersant, it was confirmed that the dispersion state and formulation stability were poor and the color durability was also poor.
