Software based Dynamic Key Generator for Multifactor Authentication

A software based method and system providing secure and robust multifactor authentication of internet users using at least one factor each of 1) Something you know; 2) Something you have; and 3) Something you are—A physical characteristic of the user or his / her computer / device. This method of authenticating the identity of a user to determine access to a host includes providing an encrypted key string based on one or more static and dynamic factors corresponding the data instances of a user or his / her computer / device, one or more static and dynamic factors corresponding the data instances of the host, and user input factors; evaluating the factor-based data instances to determine if the user's identity is authenticated; and granting or restricting the user's access to the host based on authentication results. The provider generates a key string based on the inputs gathered / provided, time stamps the key, encrypts the key and sends it to the host. The host in turns decrypts the key string, evaluates the static factors against its database, and evaluates the dynamic factors based on pre-defined logic. The user is successfully authenticated if all validations are positive. Based on the authentication results the user is granted or restricted an access to the host resources. This method and system significantly reduces the chances of identity theft occurring from phishing, pharming, man-in-middle theft, spy-ware, and key stroke logger in everyday consumer e-commerce by deploying multifactor authentication based on static and dynamic factors stored / generated at multiple places, key encryption, key time stamping, and elimination of key strokes.

Method and apparatus for controlling access to a multimedia broadcast multicast service in a packet data communication system

A communication system (100) determines whether to establish a point-to-multipoint communication or a point-to-point communication for conveyance of Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) data based on a number of mobile stations (MSs) (102-104), both idle mode and maintaining an active connection, serviced by the system and subscribed to an MBMS service. The system, broadcasts (306) a control message that includes an access probability factor. In order to avoid overloading the system with responses to the control message, MSs maintaining an active connection ignore (506, 508) the control message while idle mode MSs determine (506, 512) whether to respond based on the access probability factor. The system compares (310) a number of received responses to a threshold and determines whether to establish a point-to-multipoint communication (312) or a point-to-point communication (322) based on the comparison. The system also adjusts (314, 330) the access probability factor based on the number of responses.

Techniques for selective enhancement of a digital image

By automatically compensating for unwanted lighting effects caused by varying ambient light sources, digital still images and video are made to appear more naturally realistic. A set of correction factors based upon an ascertained ambient lighting conditions, such as color temperature, provides for selectively color correcting only those pixels requiring correction. In this way, only those portions of a digital image having excessive color due to ambient light conditions are improved without affecting those portions of the digital image not requiring correction.

Communication system with adaptive channel correction

Adaptive methods and systems for applying a channel correction factor to received signals to correct errors caused by channel distortion. The channel correction factor is dynamically calculated and updated based on the received signal or signals. A receiver continuously calculates an error factor representing a deviation of the received signal from the signal being transmitted, and generates the channel correction factor based on the error factor. Since the error factor includes information related to channel distortions, the channel correction factor so calculated adapts to the change of channel characteristics. If preferred, an advanced algorithm can be used to predict the channel response for the next incoming signal such that the receiver can correct channel errors on a substantially real-time basis.

Factor retrieving is a major approach for pulse wave analysis. Stiffness index and cardiac output are widely used factors for cardiac risk detection. Research has been done on clinical pulse wave data which are collected by pulse oximeter. The result shows that collected factors have a positive correlation with certain cardiac risks. Some adjustments have been applied on the algorithms that increase the significance. In addition to the factor based analysis, other signal processing techniques for pulse waveforms are included such as bispectrum estimation, Wavelet transform, and weighted dynamic time warping. Bispectrum estimation and Wavelet transform have meaningful features of pulse waveforms with some special shapes. Weighted dynamic time warping compares the similarity of waveforms. It also includes medical significance into the calculation by adjusting the weight vector. This algorithm has higher accuracy when providing more samples to compare. The factor based analysis and waveform analysis compose an analytic model which can be used for risk evaluation, classification and disease detection.
