Abstract

A refrigerating apparatus, wherein first and second expansion compressors (30, 40) with different volume ratios Vc/Ve are connected parallel with each other in a refrigerant circuit (10). The expansion compressors (30, 40) are so formed that their expanders (31, 41) are connected parallel with each other and also their compressors (32, 42) are connected parallel with each other. When the operating conditions of the refrigerating apparatus are changed, a controller (60) regulates the ratio of the rotational speeds of the expansion compressors (30, 40). As a result, the refrigerating apparatus can be operated at a COP near an ideal efficiency.
