Abstract

A method, device and computer program product for avoiding exposed nodes in a wireless local area network are presented. The method comprises maintaining at a node a first timer (NAV_RTS) of a channel which, if set, prevents the node from authorizing itself to transmit on the channel ; maintaining at the node a second timer (NAV_CTS) for the channel that, if set, prevents the node from transmitting on the channel. The method also includes updating the NAV_RTS when receiving a transmission request (CC-RTS) frame having a reservation duration value greater than zero and greater than the current value of the NAV_RTS; The NAV_CTS is updated when the transmission response (CC-CTS) frame of the reserved duration value of the current value of the NAV_CTS is received.
