Abstract

The invention discloses a method for providing an access network protocol selection function by an access network discovery and selection function (ANDSF), comprising: the ANDSF generates an access network list according to an access network request message sent by user equipment (UE); and the UE selects an access network from the access network list according to an access network protocol type supported by self and initiates switching to the selected access network. The invention also provides a system for providing an access network protocol selection function by an ANDSF. The method and the system can solve the problem of service interruption caused by inconsistent access network protocol types supported by the UE and the access network when the UE switches the access network.
