Embodiment Construction

[0017] Disclosed herein is an exemplary embodiment of a system for controlling valve movement in an engine in which the valve is driven between a closed position and an open position using electro-hydraulic variable valve drive technology. The system includes a pump piston operably coupled to the valve and a cam lobe operably coupled to the pump piston. The cam lobe includes a profile configured such that when the cam lobe rotates, the pump piston is guided to move, wherein the movement of the pump piston includes a first duration of increasing speed, followed by a decreasing acceleration The second duration is followed by the third duration of increasing speed. The cam lobe profile is configured such that the acceleration obtained by the pump piston during the first acceleration duration is greater than the acceleration obtained during the third acceleration duration. The cam lobe profile is also configured such that the first duration of increasing speed is less than the thi...

Abstract

A system for controlling valves in an engine is provided. The system includes a pump piston operably coupled to a valve. The valve is movable by electro-hydraulic variable valve actuation. The system also includes a cam lobe operably coupled to the pump piston. The cam lobe includes a profile configured such that rotation of the cam lobe directs movement of the pump piston. The movement of the pump piston comprises a first duration of increasing acceleration, followed by a second duration of decreasing acceleration, followed by a third duration of increasing acceleration, wherein when the valve is actuated, the The valve moves according to the configuration of the cam lobe.

Description

Technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a system and method for controlling one or more valves in an engine with electro-hydraulic variable valve drive technology. Background technique [0002] Currently, vehicles are equipped with engines that utilize electro-hydraulic variable valve drive technology, which assists in controlling the intake of the engine. Compared with the traditional valve-driven engine, the engine designed with the variable valve drive technology usually produces more horsepower, and has lower emissions and fuel consumption. By optimizing the intake valve lift plan, electro-hydraulic variable valve drive technology provides improved performance and efficiency. Currently, the valves in engines using this technology cannot be raised quickly as needed. The increased valve lift time reduces the power and performance of the engine. Therefore, there is a need to improve the lift time of the valve in the engine using the electro-hydraulic variable ...
