The invention provides the designed length of the freely-overtaking lane, the length of diverging/converging transition section, and the designed width of freely-overtaking lane. Compared with the prior art, the construction cost is low, the traffic signs and markings are smartly utilized to solve the problem that a driver cannot utilize the opposite lane for overtaking on a two lane road. On the basis that no more land is required, the operation benefits and safety benefits of two lane road can be effectively increased by the provided method.
