The application provides an application software preview method and system. The method comprises following steps: receiving a preview instruction corresponding to to-be-previewed application softwaresent by a terminal; based on the preview instruction, determining a target terminal simulator corresponding to the terminal, wherein the target terminal simulator is used for operating the to-be-previewed application software; controlling the target terminal simulator to operate the to-be-previewed application software to generate preview data corresponding to the preview instruction; sending preview data to the terminal. The application provides that setting a terminal simulator on an application market server and the to-be-previewed application software is installed and operated by the terminal simulator. Since the terminal simulator has the same or similar processing process with terminals, the terminal simulator can totally or approximately simulates a terminal to operate the to-be-previewed application software. Therefore, by means of the application, users can operate to-be-previewed application software by themselves without the need to download software package of the to-be-previewed application software.
