The control method of the new energy vehicle air pump comprises the steps of controlling a target air pump according to a target pressure switch; obtaining a first pressure value of a front axle brake air cylinder and a second pressure value of a rear axle brake air cylinder; according to the first pressure value and the second pressure value, judging whether a normal closed state of the target pressure switch is invalid or not; and if the normal closed state of the target pressure switch is invalid, converting the control of the target air pump from target pressure switch control into target pressure sensor control. According to the control method of the new energy vehicle air pump, the target air pump is controlled according to the target pressure switch; when it is judged that the normal closed state of the target pressure switch is invalid according to the first pressure value and the second pressure value,the control of the target air pump is converted from target pressure switch control into target pressure sensor control; and therefore, a problem that the air pump does not work to affect vehicle braking operation and vehicle safety when the system is undervoltage and if a pressure sensor or a pressure switch has a fault during only adopting sensor or pressure switch control is solved.
