Embodiment Construction

[0032] 1-3 show a preferred embodiment of an electronic volatile diffuser 20 according to the present invention. Generally, the diffuser 20 has a housing 22 that mounts an electrical plug 24 at one end and a liquid vapor bottle 26 located therebelow. The liquid volatile bottle 26 is hermetically sealed except for a wick 28 which has one end immersed in the liquid in the bottle and the other extending out of the bottle. The casing 22 includes a heater 30 , an LED lamp 32 and a power-off fuse 34 , all of which are electrically connected to the plug 24 via wires drawn from the metal fork of the plug 24 .

[0033]The liquid comprises: a thermally excitable chemical composition, preferably an insecticide. However, various insect control chemicals, fragrances, disinfectants, sanitizers, or other heat-activated chemicals can also be used. The bottle is preferably sealed by a cap fitted over the threaded neck which is removably screwed into the lower cavity of the housing 22 . The ...

Abstract

A plug-in type dispenser of liquid volatiles, such as insecticides, fragrants, and the like, of the type having a heater for evaporating the liquid volatiles from a wick, has a lamp that transmits light to an exterior of the dispenser housing incident with an exterior in-use indicator surface of the housing to illuminate the in-use indicator so it is readily visible from a viewing, preferably top, side of the dispenser.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a diffuser for volatile liquids, and more particularly to a device for evaporating a liquid moving up a wick. Background technique [0002] Wick-based liquid volatile diffusion systems for diffusing any number of liquid vaporized particles into the air are well known in the art. Such systems are often used in homes with liquids ranging from insecticides to air fresheners. One end of the core can be immersed in the liquid to be diffused. The immersed portion of the core absorbs the liquid, some of which diffuses under capillarity or capillary action into the exposed and non-immersed portion of the core. The exposed portion of the core is typically heated locally by means of a ring heater mounted around the exposed end of the core. This causes the liquid diffused into the exposed portion of the core to evaporate into the surrounding air. Continuous heating of the exposed portion of the wick keeps the evaporation proce...
