Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present disclosure relates to a hybrid power system for a vehicle using an engine and a drive motor as drive sources, and more specifically, to a hybrid power system for a vehicle provided with a plurality of engine power generation modules having an engine, wherein each of the plurality of engine power generation modules selectively operates at its optimal efficiency in response to a required output. Background Art
[0002] Among driving methods of a vehicle, a hybrid system drives the vehicle by operating an engine for burning fuel or a drive motor operated by electric power applied from a battery, or by operating both the engine and the drive motor.
[0003] Depending on the vehicle's running speed, tilt angle, acceleration, etc., either or both of the engine and the drive motor are operated.
[0004] On the other hand, in large commercial vehicles, the hybrid system is coupled by a large displacement engine, a drive motor, a transmission, etc. The engine and the drive motor are operated by a preset logic according to the driving conditions of the vehicle. Therefore, even in the range where the engine efficiency is low, the engine has no choice but to operate according to the preset logic. Generally speaking, the efficiency of the engine shows a tendency to decrease rapidly just after the engine is started or when the vehicle is running at high speed.
[0005] However, there is a problem that, according to a preset logic, the engine should inevitably operate in a range where efficiency is low and fuel consumption is high, which produces unreasonable results that need to be resolved. Summary of the invention

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0040] Hereinafter, a hybrid system of a vehicle provided with a plurality of engine power generation modules according to the present disclosure will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0041] A hybrid power system for a vehicle provided with multiple engine power generation modules according to the present disclosure may include: multiple engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C, for generating electricity through the operation of an engine 11; a battery 40, for storing electricity output from the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C; multiple drive modules 30A and 30B, for driving wheels of the vehicle (not shown) by electricity output from the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C or the battery 40; and a control unit 50, for controlling the operation of the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C and the drive modules 30A and 30B according to the required output of the vehicle.
[0042] The engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C generate electricity by operating the engine 11. A plurality of engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C may be provided so that a driving force required to drive the vehicle can be generated. Figure 1, an example in which three engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C are provided as a first engine power generation module 10A, a second engine power generation module 10B and a third engine power generation module 10C is shown. However, it should be noted that a smaller or larger number of engine power generation modules may be provided depending on the maximum required output of the vehicle. In addition, even when the maximum required output of the vehicle is the same, the number of engine power generation modules may be changed.
[0043] In the present disclosure, the vehicle may be a commercial vehicle, such as a truck. The commercial vehicle may be heavy and may be driven with a heavy load on it. Therefore, in the past, a diesel engine with a large displacement was used as a driving source for the commercial vehicle.
[0044] However, in the present disclosure, a plurality of engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C including an engine 11 having a small displacement may be provided and selectively operated to drive wheels of the vehicle according to a required output of the vehicle.
[0045] Each of the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C may include an engine 11, a generator 12 driven by the engine 11 to generate electricity, and a converter 13 for converting the electricity output from the generator 12 and outputting the electricity to the battery 40 or the drive modules 30A and 30B. Here, when the engine 11 is started, the generator 12 and the converter 13 may be operated by a starter motor (not shown) and an inverter 31, respectively. Although Figure 2 One engine power generation module 10A is shown, but similarly, each of the remaining engine power generation modules 10B and 10C may also include an engine 11 , a generator 12 , and a converter 13 .
[0046] The engine 11 may be an internal combustion engine for generating driving force by burning fuel. Examples of the engine 11 may include a gasoline engine, a diesel engine, a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) engine, a compressed natural gas (CNG) engine, etc. In addition, the engine 11 may be a hydrogen engine or an ammonia engine that does not emit carbon dioxide during operation.
[0047] On the other hand, since the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C can adopt the above-mentioned various types of internal combustion engines, engines using different fuels can be applied to the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C, respectively. However, it is preferred that the engine 11 using the same fuel is applied to the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C. When the engine using the same fuel can be applied to the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C, the fuel supply system supplied to each engine 11 can be unified.
[0048] Even when the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C use the same fuel, the displacement of the engine 11 applied to the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C may be different, and a plurality of engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C may be selectively operated according to the required output of the vehicle. For example, even when the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C may be referred to as the first engine power generation module 10A, the second engine power generation module 10B, and the third engine power generation module 10C, and a gasoline engine may be applied to each of the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C, the first engine power generation module 10A and the second engine power generation module 10B may adopt a 2.5L turbo engine, and the third engine power generation module 10C may adopt a 1.6L turbo engine.
[0049] Of course, the engines 11 provided in the plurality of engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C may be configured to have the same displacement, and the control unit 50 may selectively operate the plurality of engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C according to the required output of the vehicle.
[0050] In addition, among the multiple engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C, some engine power generation modules 10B and 10C may have the same engine displacement, while the remaining engine power generation modules 10A may have different engine displacements, so the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C can be selectively operated by the control unit 50.
[0051] An example of combining multiple engine power generation modules is described below.
[0052] Two engine power generation modules may be applied, and the first engine power generation module 10A and the second engine power generation module 10B may be configured and operated with the same engine displacement. For example, by configuring the first engine power generation module 10A and the second engine power generation module 10B as 2L displacements with the same output, the control unit 50 may selectively operate the first engine power generation module 10A and the second engine power generation module 10B according to the required output of the vehicle.
[0053] Alternatively, two engine power generation modules may be applied, and the first engine power generation module 10A may be configured to have a displacement of 3 L, while the second engine power generation module 10B may be configured to have a displacement of 1 L. The control unit 50 may mainly operate the first engine power generation module 10A, and additionally operate the second engine power generation module 10B in an interval requiring the maximum output of the vehicle, or, may mainly operate the second engine power generation module 10B in a low output interval (such as a constant speed interval on a flat road), and operate the first engine power generation module 10A when the required output increases.
[0054] On the other hand, three engine power generation modules can be applied, the first engine power generation module 10A can adopt a 2L displacement engine, the engines of the second engine power generation module 10B and the third engine power generation module 10C can be configured to have a 1L displacement, and according to the required output of the vehicle, the control unit 50 can control only the operation of any one of the first engine power generation module 10A to the third engine power generation module 10C, or control the operation of two or all of the engine power generation modules.
[0055] The number of multiple engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C and the engine displacement applied to each engine power generation module 10A, 10B and 10C can be applied in various ways, and the control unit 50 can determine and operate the number or order of operations of the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C according to the required output of the vehicle.
[0056] Since the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C each include an engine 11 and a generator 12 , when the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C operate, the engine 11 can operate the generator 12 to output electricity, and the amount of power generation can be determined based on the speed and output torque of the engine 11 .
[0057] A fuel tank 20 for storing fuel supplied to the engine 11 may be installed at one side of the vehicle. The fuel tank 20 may supply fuel to all of the first to third engine power generation modules 10A to 10C.
[0058] The battery 40 can store the power output from the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C. If necessary, the battery 40 can output the stored power to the drive modules 30A and 30B, which will be described below.
[0059] The drive modules 30A and 30B may drive wheels of the vehicle to make the vehicle travel. The drive modules 30A and 30B may directly receive power output from the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C, or receive power stored in the battery 40.
[0060] Each of the drive modules 30A and 30B may include an inverter 31 for converting DC power into AC power, a drive motor 32 for generating a driving force, and a speed reducer 33 connected to an output shaft of the drive motor 32 to reduce the rotation speed of the output shaft. Figure 3 One drive module 30A is shown, but the remaining drive modules 30B may also include an inverter 31 , a drive motor 32 , and a reducer 33 .
[0061] The drive modules 30A and 30B may also be installed in the number required by the vehicle. For example, when the rear wheels of the vehicle have two axles, two drive modules 30A and 30B may be provided as the first drive module 30A and the second drive module 30B, and they may be installed to drive the axle of each rear wheel. Alternatively, when the rear wheels of the vehicle have three axles, three drive modules may be installed to drive the axle of each rear wheel.
[0062] On the other hand, it should be understood that the outputs of drive modules 30A and 30B may be output via a single output shaft.
[0063] The control unit 50 may control operations of the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C and the drive modules 30A and 30B according to required outputs to drive the vehicle.
[0064] When controlling the operation of the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C, the control unit 50 can derive a total engine efficiency map M from the individual engine efficiency maps M_1, M_2 and M_3 of each engine 11 arranged in the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C, and drive multiple engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C based on the total engine efficiency map M according to the required output.
[0065] Typically, the engine 11 may have the following characteristics during operation: Figure 4 and Figure 5 The engine 11 may have a combustion characteristic along A-A'-B'-B from low output (due to the low RPM of the engine 11) to maximum output, with the RPM inflected at A' and B'. Figure 5 In the example, the intervals e1 and e3 may be intervals in which the fuel consumption rate may be higher than the output and the fuel consumption rate rapidly decreases (interval e1) or increases (interval e3), thereby causing poor operating efficiency of the engine 11. The interval e2 is an interval in which the fuel consumption rate is lower than the output and the fuel consumption rate changes smoothly, and is an interval in which the engine 11 may operate at optimal efficiency because a torque proportional to the RPM of the engine 11 is generated and a constant output is output. Figure 6 As shown, the section e2 may also be a section having excellent power generation efficiency.
[0066] Depending on the type of the engine 11 applied to the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C, the specific form of the engine efficiency map and the specific values of the engine efficiency map may be different, but the general trend is as follows: Figure 4 and Figure 5 shown.
[0067] Therefore, if Figure 7As shown, the control unit 50 can derive the total engine efficiency map M from the individual engine efficiency maps M_1, M_2 and M_3 of each engine 11 provided in the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C. The total engine efficiency map M can be derived by connecting the individual engine efficiency maps M_1, M_2 and M_3 so that in the individual engine efficiency maps M_1, M_2 and M_3 of the first engine power generation module 10A to the third engine power generation module 10C, the fuel consumption rate is less than or equal to the predetermined reference value L (see Figure 5 In other words, the overall engine efficiency map M can be derived in the form of connecting the intervals e2 of each individual engine in each engine power generation module 10A, 10B and 10C.
[0068] As described above, when the total engine efficiency map M is derived, the control unit 50 can drive multiple engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C based on the total engine efficiency map M according to the required output, so that electricity can be generated from each engine power generation module 10A, 10B and 10C.
[0069] Specifically, the control unit 50 may determine the operation sequence of the plurality of engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C, and derive the total engine efficiency map M based on the sequence. The reason why the control unit 50 determines the operation sequence of the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C may be that, since the durability of the engine power generation module 10A that operates first among the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C deteriorates first when the operation sequence of the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C is fixed, the operation sequence of the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C is alternately determined to reduce the deviation of the accumulated operation time of the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B, and 10C, thereby increasing the durability.
[0070] The process in which the control unit 50 determines the operating sequence of the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C and derives the total engine efficiency diagram M according to the sequence can cause the fuel consumption rate in the individual engine efficiency diagrams M_1, M_2 and M_3 of the engine 11 of the first operating engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C to be reversely curved to connect to the optimal efficiency interval of the individual engine efficiency diagrams M_1, M_2 and M_3 of the engine 11 of the next operating engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C with an increased portion B'.
[0071] Figure 8 and Fig. 9 FIG. 5 shows an example in which the control unit 50 can determine the operating sequence of the engine power generation modules 10A, 10B and 10C to derive the overall engine efficiency map M. Figure 8 and Fig. 9In the figure, each individual engine efficiency diagram of the first engine power generation module 10A to the third engine power generation module 10C can be shown by a dotted line, a dotted line or a double dotted line, and according to the output of the vehicle, the first engine power generation module 10A to the third engine power generation module 10C can be operated additionally in sequence.
[0072] Figure 8 An example is shown in which the control unit 50 determines the operating sequence of the first engine power generation module 10A, the second engine power generation module 10B, and the third engine power generation module 10C. In the initial starting interval (interval E1) and the low output interval (interval E2) of the vehicle, only the first engine power generation module 10A can be operated. Thereafter, when the required output of the vehicle increases and enters the medium output interval (interval E3), the second engine power generation module 10B can be additionally operated. In the medium output interval of the vehicle, the output of the first engine power generation module 10A may not be increased, the first engine power generation module 10A may be operated in the terminal state of interval E2, and from the moment of entering interval E3, the second engine power generation module 10B may be additionally operated along the optimal efficiency interval of the second engine power generation module 10B. In other words, in interval E3, the first engine power generation module 10A may be operated in the terminal state of interval E2, and the second engine power generation module 10B may be operated along interval E3. When interval E2 becomes interval E3, the first engine power generation module 10A may not be in the low-efficiency high output interval (for example, Figure 5 The second engine power generation module 10B may not be operated in the low efficiency starting interval (e.g., Figure 5 10A and the second engine power generation module 10B. Thereafter, when the high output interval (E4 interval) is entered due to an increase in the required output of the vehicle, the first engine power generation module 10A can be operated in the final state of interval E2, the second engine power generation module 10B can be operated in the final state of interval E3, and the third engine power generation module 10C can be additionally operated along interval E4. On the other hand, since the maximum output interval (interval E5) is an interval where output is required, the output can be increased in each of the first engine power generation module 10A to the third engine power generation module 10C to respond to the required output of the vehicle.
[0073] Therefore, the vehicle can travel at optimal efficiency in the section E2 to the section E4.
[0074] Fig. 9 An example is shown in which the control unit 50 determines the operation order of the first engine power generation module 10A, the second engine power generation module 10B, and the third engine power generation module 10C.
[0075] exist Fig. 9 , the second engine power generation module 10B can be operated earlier than the first engine power generation module 10A. The second engine power generation module 10B can be operated first in the E1 interval and the E2 interval, and when the required output of the vehicle increases, the second engine power generation module 10B can be operated in the final state of the E2 interval, and the first engine power generation module 10A can be additionally operated along the E3 interval. Thereafter, when the required output of the vehicle increases, the second engine power generation module 10B can be operated in the final state of the interval E2, the first engine power generation module 10A can be operated in the final state of the interval E3, and the third engine power generation module 10C can be additionally operated along the interval E4. In addition, when entering the interval E5 which is the maximum output interval, the first engine power generation module 10A to the third engine power generation module 10C can increase the output respectively, so that it can be driven according to the required output of the vehicle.
[0076] The control unit 50 may be a hybrid control unit (HCU).
