Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The technology disclosed in this specification relates to a protective sheet material and a method for applying the protective sheet material. [Background technology]
[0002] Conventionally, one example of a protective sheet material is known, which is described in the following Patent Document 1. The protective sheet material described in Patent Document 1 is a protective sheet material in which an adhesive layer is covered with a release material made of a flexible, transparent synthetic resin material, and is configured such that a frame line is printed on a predetermined position of the release material, and a cut is made to a depth of 90% or more of the thickness, so that the release material can be divided at the cut portion by bending the release material. When attaching, the frame line is aligned with the liquid crystal screen of the device to which it is to be attached, and while holding down one end of the protective sheet, the other end is lifted up and curved, the cut end that has risen from the adhesive layer is grasped to completely remove half of the release material, and the protective film is attached and fixed in an accurate position, half at a time. [Prior art documents] [Patent documents]
[0003] [Patent Document 1] Patent No. 5928857 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0004] In the method of attaching a protective sheet material described in Patent Document 1, half of the release material is completely removed and half of the protective film is attached to the liquid crystal screen of the device to which the protective film is to be attached, thereby positioning the protective film. Therefore, when positioning the protective film, the action of peeling off the release material may cause the protective film to be misaligned, which may have a negative effect on the positional accuracy of the protective film. In particular, when the device to which the protective film is to be attached is large or the liquid crystal screen is curved, there is a concern that even a slight deviation in the positional accuracy when positioning the protective film may cause the attachment position of the protective film to be significantly misaligned. In this way, when high positional accuracy is required when positioning the protective film, it has been difficult to meet this requirement in the past.
[0005] The technology described in this specification was developed based on the above circumstances, and aims to improve position accuracy. [Means for solving the problem]

[0007] (2) In addition to the above (1), the protective sheet material may be configured such that the outer peripheral edge of the second film body overlaps with the opening edge of the opening in the first film body.
[0008] (3) In addition to the above (1) or (2), the protective sheet material may further include, when the first adhesive layer is adhered to the object to be protected, the first film main body has a first flat portion that is flat along the object to be protected, a bent portion that is connected to the first flat portion and bent along the object to be protected, and a second flat portion that is connected to the bent portion in a position where the bent portion is sandwiched between the first flat portion and the first flat portion and is flat along the object to be protected, and the opening may be provided in the first flat portion.
[0009] (4) In addition to the above (3), the protective sheet material may include a first release material attached across the first flat portion, the bent portion, and the second flat portion of the first film body, and a second release material attached to an end of the second flat portion opposite the bent portion.
[0010] (5) In addition to any one of (1) to (4) above, the protective sheet material may have a light-transmitting property.
[0011] (6) In addition to any one of (1) to (5) above, the protective sheet material may have the openings formed as through holes in the first film body and the release material.
[0012] (7) A method of attaching a protective sheet material related to the technology described in this specification is a method of attaching a first film to an object to be protected, comprising the steps of: aligning a first film body constituting the first film with respect to the object to be protected in a state in which a release material is adhered to a first adhesive layer provided on a first main surface of a pair of main surfaces of the first film body; arranging a second film body constituting a second film arranged on the opposite side of the first film to the object to be protected so as to cover an opening provided in communication with the first film body and the release material; adhering a second adhesive layer provided on a third main surface of the second film body that faces the second main surface of the pair of main surfaces of the first film body to the object to be protected through the opening; peeling off the release material; and adhering the exposed first adhesive layer to the object to be protected.
[0013] (8) In addition to the above (7), the method of attaching the protective sheet material may also include aligning the first film body of the first film, which is in a state in which the second film is not attached, with respect to the object to be protected, and then attaching the second film to the first film from the side opposite the object to be protected, thereby adhering the second adhesive layer to the second main surface of the first film body and the object to be protected. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0016] <Embodiment 1> A first embodiment will be described with reference to Figs. 1 to 10. In this embodiment, a protective sheet material 20 used for a liquid crystal module (object to be protected) 10 will be illustrated. Note that an X-axis, a Y-axis, and a Z-axis are shown in a portion of each drawing, and each axis direction is drawn to be the direction shown in each drawing. Also, the upper side of Figs. 5 to 10 is the front side, and the lower side of the drawings is the back side.
[0017] First, the configuration of the liquid crystal module 10 will be described. As shown in FIG. 1, the liquid crystal module 10 according to this embodiment has a generally horizontally elongated substantially rectangular planar shape. The short side direction of this liquid crystal module 10 coincides with the Y-axis direction, the long side direction coincides with the X-axis direction, and the plate thickness direction coincides with the Z-axis direction. The liquid crystal module 10 is used, for example, in a liquid crystal display device for vehicle use. Liquid crystal display devices for vehicle use are used, for example, in instrument panels, multifunction displays, infotainment systems, and the like, and generally have a horizontally elongated shape. The ratio of the long side dimension to the short side dimension of the liquid crystal module 10 varies depending on the application of the liquid crystal display device. For example, when the length of a liquid crystal display device for vehicle use is close to the vehicle width from in front of the passenger seat to in front of the driver's seat, the above-mentioned ratio becomes extremely high.
[0018] As shown in FIG. 1, the liquid crystal module 10 according to this embodiment has both end portions 10A and 10B flat in the long side direction, while the central portion 10C in the long side direction is bent. The first end portion 10A of the liquid crystal module 10 is arranged lower in the Z-axis direction than the second end portion 10B. The central portion 10C of the liquid crystal module 10 is bent so as to gradually become higher from the first end portion 10A side toward the second end portion 10B side. The liquid crystal module 10 includes at least a liquid crystal panel and a backlight device (illumination device) arranged to overlap the back side of the liquid crystal panel. The liquid crystal panel is capable of displaying an image by using illumination light irradiated from the backlight device. The backlight device has, for example, a light source (e.g., LED, etc.) and an optical member that converts light from the light source into planar light by applying an optical effect.
[0019] The protective sheet material 20 is used to protect the liquid crystal module 10 when the manufactured liquid crystal module 10 is transported from a manufacturing site to another location (for example, an automobile assembly plant, etc.). The configuration of the protective sheet material 20 will be described. As shown in FIG. 2, the protective sheet material 20 includes a first film 21 and a second film 22 that are attached to the surface of the liquid crystal module 10 (the display surface of the liquid crystal panel). The first film 21 has at least a first film body 23 having a pair of front and back main surfaces as a first main surface 23S1 and a second main surface 23S2, and a release material 24 that is arranged to overlap the first main surface 23S1 side on the back side of the first film body 23. The second film 22 has at least a second film body 25 having a back main surface of the pair of front and back main surfaces as a third main surface 25S.
[0020] 3, among the components of the protective sheet material 20, the first film body 23 and the second film body 25 are attached to the liquid crystal module 10 and contribute to protecting the liquid crystal module 10. In contrast, the release material 24 is peeled off from the first film body 23 when the first film body 23 is attached to the liquid crystal module 10 (see FIGS. 9 and 10).
[0021] First, the configuration of the first film 21 will be described in detail. The first film body 23 is made of, for example, synthetic resin (for example, PET (polyethylene terephthalate), PE (polyethylene), etc.), and as shown in FIG. 3, has a horizontally elongated shape with a main portion slightly smaller than the liquid crystal module 10. In detail, the long side dimension and short side dimension of the main portion of the first film body 23 are slightly smaller than the long side dimension and short side dimension of the liquid crystal module 10, respectively. This prevents the main portion of the first film body 23 from protruding outward from the outer periphery of the liquid crystal module 10, so that the main portion of the first film body 23 is less likely to interfere with other members, resulting in deformation of the main portion of the first film body 23 or peeling off from the liquid crystal module 10. In addition, protrusions 23D that protrude outward from the outer periphery of the liquid crystal module 10 along the long side direction are provided at both ends of the main portion of the first film body 23 in the long side direction. Each protrusion 23D functions as a handle that is held by an operator when removing the first film main body 23 from the liquid crystal module 10 when it is no longer necessary to protect the liquid crystal module 10.
[0022] The release material 24 is made of paper (e.g., fine paper, craft paper, glassine paper, etc.) or synthetic resin (e.g., PET, etc.), has translucency, and is almost transparent. As shown in FIG. 4, the release material 24 has a horizontally elongated shape that is slightly larger than the first film body 23. In detail, the long side dimension and the short side dimension of the release material 24 are larger than the long side dimension and the short side dimension of the main part of the first film body 23, respectively, and the difference in the dimensions is larger than the difference between the long side dimension and the short side dimension of the main part of the first film body 23 and the long side dimension and the short side dimension of the liquid crystal module 10. Therefore, the outer peripheral end of the release material 24 protrudes outward from the outer peripheral edge of the main part of the first film body 23 all around. Furthermore, the release material 24 protrudes outward from each protrusion 23D of the first film body 23. A release agent (adhesive) may be applied to the main surface of the release material 24 that faces the first film main body 23. An opening 26 is provided in the first film main body 23 and the release material 24 so as to communicate with each other. The opening 26 has a horizontally elongated rectangular shape in plan view, and is formed as a through-hole that penetrates the first film main body 23 and the release material 24 along the thickness direction (Z-axis direction). Therefore, the opening edge of the opening 26 forms an endless ring shape in plan view. The details of the opening 26 will be explained again later.
[0023] As shown in Figs. 5 and 6, the first film 21 has a first fixing layer 27 provided on the first main surface 23S1 of the first film body 23. The first fixing layer 27 is made of an adhesive or the like, and is applied over almost the entire area of the first main surface 23S1 of the first film body 23. The first fixing layer 27 is fixed to an object (liquid crystal module 10 or release material 24) to which the first film 21 is attached. In a state in which the first film 21 is attached to the release material 24, the first fixing layer 27 is fixed to the release material 24 arranged so as to sandwich the first fixing layer 27 between the first film body 23 and the release material 24 (see Fig. 7). In a state in which the first film 21 is attached to the liquid crystal module 10, the first film body 23 has a cross-sectional shape in which a main portion thereof follows the surface (attachment surface) of the liquid crystal module 10. The main portion of the first film body 23 is composed of a substantially flat first flat portion 23A, a substantially flat second flat portion 23B, and a bent portion 23C that is bent so as to gradually become higher from the first flat portion 23A side toward the second flat portion 23B side. The first flat portion 23A is arranged so as to overlap the first end portion 10A of the liquid crystal module 10, and is parallel to the first end portion 10A. The second flat portion 23B is arranged so as to overlap the second end portion 10B of the liquid crystal module 10, and is parallel to the second end portion 10B. The second flat portion 23B is arranged so as to sandwich the bent portion 23C between itself and the first flat portion 23A. The bent portion 23C is arranged so as to overlap the center portion 10C of the liquid crystal module 10, and is parallel to the center portion 10C. Both ends of the bent portion 23C in the X-axis direction are connected to the first flat portion 23A and the second flat portion 23B. In this manner, when the first film 21 is attached to the liquid crystal module 10, it can protect almost the entire liquid crystal module 10 except for the portion overlapping with the opening 26.
[0024] As shown in FIG. 7, the opening 26 includes a first opening 26A provided in the first film main body 23 and a second opening 26B provided in the release material 24. The first opening 26A and the second opening 26B are substantially the same in size when viewed in a plan view. As shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, the first opening 26A is provided in the first flat portion 23A of the first film main body 23. The first opening 26A is disposed in a substantially central position in the X-axis direction and the Y-axis direction of the first flat portion 23A. As shown in FIG. 7, the second opening 26B is provided in a portion of the release material 24 that overlaps with the first flat portion 23A of the first film main body 23.
[0025] Next, the configuration of the second film 22 will be described in detail. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the second film 22 is disposed on the opposite side of the first film 21 from the liquid crystal module 10, that is, on the front side. The second film 22 is smaller in size than the first film 21 in a plan view, and is disposed so as to cover the opening 26 of the first film 21. The second film main body 25 constituting the second film 22 is made of, for example, synthetic resin (e.g., PET, PE, etc.), and has a horizontally elongated shape that is slightly larger than the opening 26 of the first film 21. The planar shape of the second film 22 is similar to the planar shape of the opening 26. In detail, the long side dimension and the short side dimension of the second film main body 25 are larger than the long side dimension and the short side dimension of the opening 26, respectively. The second film 22 is disposed in a plan view so as to be concentric with the opening 26. Therefore, the second film 22 is configured such that the outer peripheral edge of the second film main body 25 overlaps with the opening edge of the opening 26 in the first film main body 23 over the entire periphery.
[0026] 5 and 6, the second film body 25 covers the opening 26, and a third main surface 25S, which is the main surface on the back side, is disposed opposite the second main surface 23S2 of the first film body 23. The second film 22 has a second fixing layer 28 provided on the third main surface 25S of the second film body 25. The second fixing layer 28 is made of an adhesive or the like, and is applied over almost the entire area of the third main surface 25S of the second film body 25. The second fixing layer 28 is fixed to an object (the first film 21 or the liquid crystal module 10) to which the second film 22 is attached. In a state where the second film 22 is attached to the first film 21 and the liquid crystal module 10, the opening 26 is entirely covered by the second film main body 25, a portion of the second fixing layer 28 overlapping with the opening 26 is fixed to the surface of the liquid crystal module 10 through the opening 26, and a portion of the second fixing layer 28 not overlapping with the opening 26 is fixed to the edge of the opening 26 in the first film main body 23. In this way, when the second film 22 is attached to the first film 21 and the liquid crystal module 10, it can protect the portion of the liquid crystal module 10 overlapping with the opening 26. In other words, the liquid crystal module 10 is entirely protected by the first film 21 and the second film 22.
[0027] The present embodiment has the above-described structure, and next, a method for attaching protective sheet material 20 to liquid crystal module 10 will be described mainly with reference to Fig. 7 to Fig. 10. The method for attaching protective sheet material 20 includes an alignment step of aligning first film 21 with respect to liquid crystal module 10, a positioning step of positioning first film 21 with respect to liquid crystal module 10 by second film 22, and an attachment step of peeling off release material 24 and attaching first film main body 23 to liquid crystal module 10.
[0028] In the positioning step, as shown in FIG. 7, the first film body 23 in which the release material 24 is fixed to the first adhesive layer 27 is placed on the liquid crystal module 10 from the front side. The first film body 23 placed on the surface of the liquid crystal module 10 is moved appropriately in the X-axis direction and the Y-axis direction to align the first film body 23 with the liquid crystal module 10. At this time, the worker can easily align the first film body 23 while visually checking the liquid crystal module 10 through the almost transparent release material 24. At this stage, since the release material 24 is interposed between the first adhesive layer 27 and the liquid crystal module 10, it is possible to prevent the first adhesive layer 27 from being fixed to the liquid crystal module 10. In other words, the degree of freedom to move the first film body 23 along the surface of the liquid crystal module 10 for alignment is sufficiently guaranteed. In this positioning step, the first film 21 in a state in which the second film 22 is not attached is aligned with the liquid crystal module 10. The first film 21 to be aligned has a cross-sectional shape that conforms to the surface of the liquid crystal module 10, and the first film main body 23 includes a first flat portion 23A, a second flat portion 23B, and a bent portion 23C.
[0029] In the positioning step, as shown in FIG. 8, the second film 22 is attached from the front side to the first film 21 aligned with the liquid crystal module 10. The second film 22 is arranged in a plane such that the central portion overlaps the opening 26, thereby covering the entire opening 26. At this time, the second film body 25 is pushed into the opening 26, so that the central portion of the second fixing layer 28 is fixed to the surface of the liquid crystal module 10 through the opening 26. In this state, the second film body 25 is in a state where the outer peripheral end (the portion not overlapping the opening 26) rides up on the opening edge of the opening 26 in the first film body 23, while the central portion (the portion overlapping the opening 26) is deformed so as to enter the opening 26. In addition, the outer peripheral end of the second fixing layer 28 is fixed to the opening edge of the opening 26 in the first film body 23. In this manner, by attaching the second film 22 to the liquid crystal module 10 and the first film 21, the first film body 23 is provisionally fixed in a positioned state with respect to the liquid crystal module 10. In this embodiment, the opening 26 is provided in the first flat portion 23A of the first film body 23, and therefore the first flat portion 23A is positioned with respect to the liquid crystal module 10 by the second film 22.
[0030] As described above, in this embodiment, the second fixing layer 28 of the second film 22 is fixed to the liquid crystal module 10 through the opening 26 of the first film body 23, so that the first film body 23 can be positioned relative to the liquid crystal module 10 without peeling off the release material 24. Therefore, compared to the conventional case where the release material 24 is peeled off to achieve positioning, it is possible to avoid the operation of peeling off the release material 24 from adversely affecting the positioning accuracy when positioning the first film body 23. This improves the positioning accuracy. In particular, in this embodiment, the second film 22 is not used in the positioning step, and the second film 22 is attached to the first film 21 and the liquid crystal module 10 only in the positioning step. Therefore, compared to the case where the first film body 23 is aligned with the liquid crystal module 10 in a state where the second film 22 is attached to the first film 21 in the positioning step, it is possible to avoid a situation in which the second fixing layer 28 is unintentionally fixed to the liquid crystal module 10 during alignment. This makes it easy to perform the alignment work of the first film body 23 with respect to the liquid crystal module 10. Furthermore, since the opening 26 is made into a through hole, the opening edge of the opening 26 is formed into an endless ring shape. Therefore, compared to the case where the opening 26 is provided as a notch, the opening edge of the opening 26 in the first film main body 23 and the release material 24 is less likely to be inadvertently deformed, and the positioning work using the second film 22 arranged to cover the opening 26 can be performed smoothly.
[0031] In the bonding process, as shown in FIG. 9, the release material 24 is peeled off from the first film body 23, and the exposed first fixing layer 27 is fixed to the liquid crystal module 10, thereby bonding the first film body 23 to the liquid crystal module 10. In detail, the worker grasps the portion of the release material 24 that protrudes outward from the second flat portion 23B of the first film body 23, and lifts it away from the liquid crystal module 10 as shown by the two-dot chain line in FIG. 9. This release material 24 protrudes outward from the protruding portion 23D, making it easy for the worker to grasp. Next, the worker peels the release material 24 off from the second flat portion 23B of the first film body 23 so as to approach the liquid crystal module 10, and displaces it toward the bent portion 23C side (the right side in FIG. 9) in the X-axis direction while rolling it up. At this time, the end portion of the second flat portion 23B opposite the bent portion 23C (the left side in Figure 9) has the first adhesive layer 27 exposed due to the peeling material 24 being peeled off, so this end portion is displaced so as to be closer to the liquid crystal module 10, and the first adhesive layer 27 exposed at this end portion is adhered to the surface of the liquid crystal module 10.
[0032] As shown in Fig. 10, the worker sequentially attaches the second flat portion 23B of the first film main body 23 to the liquid crystal module 10 from the end on the opposite side to the bent portion 23C side (left side in Fig. 10) to the end on the bent portion 23C side (right side in Fig. 10) while proceeding with the peeling of the release material 24. The worker peels the release material 24 from the bent portion 23C while lifting the bent portion 23C of the first film main body 23 together with the release material 24 away from the liquid crystal module 10, and further peels the release material 24 from the end of the first flat portion 23A on the bent portion 23C side (left side in Fig. 10) while lifting the first flat portion 23A together with the release material 24 away from the liquid crystal module 10. At this time, the second film 22 is also lifted away from the liquid crystal module 10 following the first flat portion 23A. Here, since the second end portion 10B of the liquid crystal module 10 is higher in the Z-axis direction than the first end portion 10A, it is easy to secure a space for peeling off the release material 24 without significantly deforming the first film body 23. This improves the workability of peeling off the release material 24. The worker displaces the bent portion 23C from which the release material 24 has been peeled so as to approach the liquid crystal module 10 and attaches it to the liquid crystal module 10. Next, the worker displaces the first flat portion 23A from the end on the bent portion 23C side to the end on the opposite side to the bent portion 23C side (the right side in FIG. 10) so as to approach the liquid crystal module 10 in sequence, and attaches it to the liquid crystal module 10 (see FIGS. 5 and 6). The second film 22 is attached to the liquid crystal module 10 together with the first flat portion 23A. The first film 21 and the second film 22 are thus attached to the liquid crystal module 10. The first film 21 and the second film 22 are maintained in an attached state by the first fixing layer 27 and the second fixing layer 28 being fixed to the surface of the liquid crystal module 10. In this state, the opening 26 is covered by the second film main body 25, so that the liquid crystal module 10 is prevented from being exposed to the outside through the opening 26.
[0033] In the bonding step, the work of peeling off the release material 24 and bonding the second bonding layer 28 to the liquid crystal module 10 can be performed starting from the end of the second flat portion 23B of the first film body 23 opposite the bent portion 23C. In this way, the bonding start point and the positioning point of the first film body 23 are arranged with the bent portion 23C in between, so the first film body 23 can be bonded to the liquid crystal module 10 with higher positional accuracy. In particular, since the bent portion 23C of the first film body 23 is a portion where misalignment is likely to occur, it is useful to be able to improve the positional accuracy of the bent portion 23C.
[0034] As described above, the protective sheet material 20 of this embodiment includes the first film 21 attached to the liquid crystal module (protected object) 10, and the second film 22 arranged on the opposite side of the first film 21 from the liquid crystal module 10. The first film 21 includes a first film body 23 having a pair of main surfaces, one of which is a first main surface 23S1 facing the liquid crystal module 10 and the other of which is a second main surface 23S2, a first fixing layer 27 provided on the first main surface 23S1 of the first film body 23, and a second fixing layer 27 provided on the first main surface 23S1 of the first film body 23. The second film 22 has a release material 24 arranged to sandwich the first adhesive layer 27 between the main body 23 and the release material 24 and adhered to the first adhesive layer 27, and an opening 26 provided in communication with the first film main body 23 and the release material 24. The second film 22 has a second film main body 25 having a third main surface 25S facing the second main surface 23S2 of the first film main body 23 and covering the opening 26 of the first film main body 23, and a second adhesive layer 28 provided on the third main surface 25S of the second film main body 25 and adhered to the second main surface 23S2 of the first film main body 23.
[0035] When attaching the first film 21 to the liquid crystal module 10, the first film body 23 with the release material 24 attached to the first adhesive layer 27 is aligned with the liquid crystal module 10. At this stage, the release material 24 is interposed between the first adhesive layer 27 and the liquid crystal module 10, so that the first adhesive layer 27 is prevented from adhering to the liquid crystal module 10. Once the first film body 23 is aligned with the liquid crystal module 10, the second adhesive layer 28 of the second film body 25, which covers the opening 26 of the first film body 23 and the release material 24, is adhered to the liquid crystal module 10 through the opening 26. This positions the first film body 23. In this state, the second adhesive layer 28 is also adhered to the second main surface 23S2 of the first film body 23, so that the second film body 25 is maintained in a state of being adhered to the side opposite to the liquid crystal module 10 with respect to the first film body 23. The release material 24 is peeled off from the first adhesive layer 27 of the first film main body 23 positioned relative to the liquid crystal module 10, and the first adhesive layer 27 is adhered to the liquid crystal module 10. In this way, the first film 21 is attached to the liquid crystal module 10. In addition, since the opening 26 is covered by the second film main body 25, exposure of the liquid crystal module 10 to the outside through the opening 26 is prevented.
[0036] As described above, by adhering the second fixing layer 28 of the second film 22 to the liquid crystal module 10 through the opening 26 of the first film body 23, it is possible to position the first film body 23 with respect to the liquid crystal module 10 without peeling off the release material 24. Therefore, compared to the conventional case in which positioning is performed by peeling off the release material 24, it is possible to prevent the action of peeling off the release material 24 from adversely affecting the positioning accuracy when positioning the first film body 23. This makes it possible to improve the positioning accuracy.
[0037] Further, the second film 22 is configured such that the outer peripheral edge of the second film main body 25 overlaps with the opening edge of the opening 26 in the first film main body 23. In this way, if the second film 22 is smaller than the first film 21, the opening 26 can be securely covered by the second film main body 25 while reducing the amount of material for the second film 22.
[0038] In addition, in a state where the first fixing layer 27 is fixed to the liquid crystal module 10, the first film body 23 has a first flat portion 23A that is flat along the liquid crystal module 10, a bent portion 23C that is connected to the first flat portion 23A and bent along the liquid crystal module 10, and a second flat portion 23B that is connected to the bent portion 23C and is flat along the liquid crystal module 10 with the bent portion 23C sandwiched between the first flat portion 23A and the bent portion 23C, and an opening 26 is provided in the first flat portion 23A. The second fixing layer 28 of the second film body 25 is fixed to the liquid crystal module 10 through the opening 26, so that the first flat portion 23A of the first film body 23 is positioned relative to the liquid crystal module 10. Thereafter, the operation of peeling off the release material 24 and fixing the second fixing layer 28 to the liquid crystal module 10 can be performed starting from an end portion of the second flat portion 23B of the first film body 23 on the opposite side to the bent portion 23C. In this way, the attachment start point and the positioning point of first film main body 23 are arranged to sandwich bent portion 23C, so that first film main body 23 (particularly bent portion 23C) can be attached to liquid crystal module 10 with higher positional accuracy.
[0039] In addition, the release material 24 is translucent. In this way, when the first film body 23 with the release material 24 fixed to the first fixing layer 27 is aligned with the liquid crystal module 10, the liquid crystal module 10 can be confirmed by light transmitted through the release material 24. This makes it possible to align the first film body 23 with the liquid crystal module 10 easily and with high positional accuracy.
[0040] Furthermore, the opening 26 is provided as a through hole in the first film main body 23 and the release material 24. In this way, the opening edge of the opening 26 in the first film main body 23 and the release material 24 becomes an endless ring shape. Compared to the case where the opening 26 is provided as a notch, the opening edge of the opening 26 in the first film main body 23 and the release material 24 is less likely to be inadvertently deformed, and the positioning operation of the second film 22 arranged to cover the opening 26 can be performed smoothly.
[0041] Furthermore, the method of attaching the protective sheet material 20 according to this embodiment is a method of attaching a first film 21 to a liquid crystal module 10, in which the first film body 23 constituting the first film 21 is aligned with the liquid crystal module 10 with a release material 24 adhered to a first adhesive layer 27 provided on a first main surface 23S1 of a pair of main surfaces of the first film body 23, the second film body 25 constituting the second film 22 arranged on the opposite side of the first film 21 from the liquid crystal module 10 is arranged so as to cover an opening 26 provided in communication with the first film body 23 and the release material 24, the second adhesive layer 28 provided on a third main surface 25S of the second film body 25 facing the second main surface 23S2 of the pair of main surfaces of the first film body 23 is adhered to the liquid crystal module 10 through the opening 26, the release material 24 is peeled off, and the exposed first adhesive layer 27 is adhered to the liquid crystal module 10.
[0042] At the stage of aligning the first film body 23 with the liquid crystal module 10, the release material 24 is interposed between the first adhesive layer 27 and the liquid crystal module 10, so that the first adhesive layer 27 is prevented from adhering to the liquid crystal module 10. When the second adhesive layer 28 of the second film body 25 covering the opening 26 of the release material 24 and the first film body 23 aligned with the liquid crystal module 10 is adhered to the liquid crystal module 10 through the opening 26, the first film body 23 is positioned. In this state, the second adhesive layer 28 is also adhered to the second main surface 23S2 of the first film body 23, so that the second film body 25 is maintained in a state of being adhered to the side of the first film body 23 opposite to the liquid crystal module 10. The release material 24 is peeled off from the first adhesive layer 27 of the first film body 23 positioned with respect to the liquid crystal module 10, and the first adhesive layer 27 is adhered to the liquid crystal module 10, so that the first film 21 is adhered to the liquid crystal module 10. Furthermore, since the opening 26 is covered by the second film body 25, the liquid crystal module 10 is prevented from being exposed to the outside through the opening 26.
[0043] As described above, by adhering the second fixing layer 28 of the second film 22 to the liquid crystal module 10 through the opening 26 of the first film body 23, it is possible to position the first film body 23 with respect to the liquid crystal module 10 without peeling off the release material 24. Therefore, compared to the conventional case in which positioning is performed by peeling off the release material 24, it is possible to prevent the action of peeling off the release material 24 from adversely affecting the positioning accuracy when positioning the first film body 23. This makes it possible to improve the positioning accuracy.
[0044] Moreover, after the first film body 23 of the first film 21, to which the second film 22 is not attached, is aligned with the liquid crystal module 10, the second film 22 is attached to the first film 21 from the side opposite the liquid crystal module 10, and the second adhesive layer 28 is fixed to the second main surface 23S2 of the first film body 23 and the liquid crystal module 10. Compared to a case in which the first film body 23 is aligned with the liquid crystal module 10 with the second film 22 attached to the first film 21 in advance, it is possible to avoid a situation in which the second adhesive layer 28 is unintentionally fixed to the liquid crystal module 10 during alignment. This makes it easy to align the first film body 23 with the liquid crystal module 10.
[0045] <Embodiment 2> A second embodiment will be described with reference to Figures 11 to 14. In this second embodiment, a case where the configuration of the release material 124 is changed is shown. Note that a duplicated description of the structure, action, and effect similar to those of the first embodiment will be omitted.
[0046] The release material 124 constituting the first film 121 according to this embodiment includes a first release material 124A attached to most of the first film body 123 and a second release material 124B attached to a part of the first film body 123, as shown in FIG. 11. The first release material 124A is made of paper or synthetic resin, has translucency, and is almost transparent. The first release material 124A is attached to the entire area of the first flat portion 123A and the bent portion 123C, as well as to a portion of the second flat portion 123B excluding the end portion on the opposite side to the bent portion 123C (the left side in FIG. 11). In detail, the short side dimension of the first release material 124A is larger than the short side dimension of the first film body 123. The long side dimension of the first release material 124A is slightly smaller than or approximately the same as the long side dimension of the main portion of the first film body 123.
[0047] The second release material 124B is made of paper or synthetic resin, has translucency, and is almost transparent. The second release material 124B is attached to the end of the second flat portion 123B opposite to the bent portion 123C, and is disposed adjacent to the first release material 124A with almost no gap. In detail, the second release material 124B has a rectangular shape elongated vertically in a plan view, and the long side dimension is larger than the short side dimension of the first film main body 123 and is the same as the short side dimension of the first release material 124A. In this way, the release material 124 according to this embodiment has a divided structure divided into the first release material 124A and the second release material 124B. The first release material 124A and the second release material 124B may be made of the same material or different materials.
[0048] Next, a method of attaching the protective sheet material 120 will be described. In the positioning step, as shown in Fig. 12 and Fig. 13, the first film main body 123, in which the release material 124 is attached to the first fixing layer 127, is placed on the liquid crystal module 110 from the front side and moved over the surface of the liquid crystal module 110 to align it. At this time, the worker can easily align the first film main body 123 while visually checking the liquid crystal module 110 through the first release material 124A and the second release material 124B, both of which are almost transparent. In the positioning step, the second film 122 is attached from the front side to the first film 121 aligned with the liquid crystal module 110 to cover the opening 126.
[0049] In the bonding step, second release material 124B of release material 124 is selectively and firstly peeled off from first film main body 123 positioned by second film 122. In this manner, as shown in FIG. 14, the end portion of second flat portion 123B of first film main body 123 opposite to bent portion 123C (left side in FIG. 14) can be bonded to liquid crystal module 110 before other portions. This allows first film main body 123 (particularly bent portion 123C) to be bonded to liquid crystal module 110 with even higher positional accuracy. Thereafter, first release material 124A is peeled off from first film main body 123, and the remaining portion of first film main body 123 is bonded to liquid crystal module 110.
[0050] As described above, according to this embodiment, the release material 124 includes the first release material 124A attached across the first flat portion 123A, the bent portion 123C, and the second flat portion 123B of the first film main body 123, and the second release material 124B attached to the end portion of the second flat portion 123B opposite to the bent portion 123C. If the second release material 124B is peeled off first from the first film main body 123 positioned by the second film 122, the end portion of the second flat portion 123B of the first film main body 123 opposite to the bent portion 123C can be attached to the liquid crystal module 110. Thereafter, the first release material 124A is peeled off, and the remaining portion of the first film main body 123 can be attached to the liquid crystal module 110. In this way, the end portion of second flat portion 123B opposite bent portion 123C can be attached to liquid crystal module 110 first, so that first film main body 123 (especially bent portion 123C) can be attached to liquid crystal module 110 with even higher positional accuracy.
