Problems solved by technology

For reliable insulation of two conducting paths, high demands are placed on such insulators, resulting in complex and expensive manufacture
[0005] Another disadvantage of the known electrosurgical instruments is that the process-controlled production of large product ranges is complicated and expensive

Embodiment Construction

[0031] In the following description, the same reference symbols are used for identical and identically acting components.

[0032] Figure 1a shows an electrosurgical forceps according to the invention. The instrument comprises a handle 20 for holding the electrosurgical instrument in the hand and a tool head 10 for grasping and clamping tissue, the handle 20 having a first handle member 21 and a second handle member 22 . The handle 20 is rigidly connected to the tool head 10 through an insulating joint bearing 30 . In order to illustrate the structure of the joint bearing, the joint bearing is drawn open in FIGS. 1 a , 1 b , 1 c and 2 . The tool head 10 comprises a first tool arm 11 and a second tool arm 12, each tool arm comprising, at its end away from the joint bearing, a gripping surface for receiving tissue. The forceps according to the invention are bipolar electrosurgical instruments. This means that the tool head, and more precisely the gripping surface, forms two e...

Abstract

The invention relates to a bipolar electrosurgical instrument, comprising a handle and a tool head. In the case of bipolar instruments, at least two conductor tracks that are separate from each other must be provided within the instrument to supply the bipolar tool head. Reliable electrical insulation of these conductor tracks from each other is often complicated in the case of the known electrosurgical instruments, such as for example scissors and forceps, since these instruments have a universal joint. The present invention solves this problem by the tool head being connected to the handle without them crossing over. In the case of this connection, the present invention makes use of a principle that is used in applications such as bolt cutters.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to an electrosurgical instrument according to the preamble of claim 1 and to a construction series for an electrosurgical instrument according to the preamble of claim 13 . Background technique [0002] In high frequency surgery (HF surgery), high frequency alternating current is conducted through the body to destroy or ablate tissue in a targeted manner. The main advantage over traditional resection methods with a scalpel is the ability to stop bleeding while resectioning by sealing off the affected vessel (coagulation). A distinction is made between high-frequency generators that generate corresponding alternating currents and electrosurgical instruments that are used to apply current to tissue. Commonly used electrosurgical instruments are electrosurgical scissors and electrosurgical forceps. These instruments fulfill a somewhat dual function, since they ensure electrocoagulation and ablation by means of high-frequency curren...
