Methods for controlling downloading of a Java application to a mobile terminal include receiving a request to download the Java application to the mobile terminal. The API attribute list identifies all Java class files referenced by the Java application. The API attribute list is compared to a list of Java class files supported by the mobile terminal to determine if the mobile terminal supports the Java application.
