Abstract

According to the embodiment, an automatic document feeder includes a first transport unit which transports a document fed from a document tray to a reading portion in a first direction after turning over the document, and a second transport unit which transports the document fed from the document tray to the reading portion in a second direction and transports the document passed through the reading portion to the reading portion in the first direction after turning over the document.
