Embodiment Construction

[0025] figure 1 A crimping device, indicated generally at 1 , for producing a crimped connection is shown. The crimping device 1 comprises a crimping press 2 with a pressure member 6 drivable by means of an electric motor and movable in vertical direction, with which the cable end of the cable 3 can be crimped The contacts 9 are connected. The longitudinal axis of the cable 3 is marked with x. The pressure part 6 has a slide, on the underside of which the workpiece holder is arranged. The tool holder carries a crimping tool on which a crimping punch for crimping the crimping contact to the cable end is arranged. The crimping punch cooperates in a known manner with an anvil which forms a counterpart to the crimping punch. Relevant structural details are found, for example, in the crimping devices shown in EP 1 351 349 A1 or EP 1 447 888 A1. The cable 3 is held by the gripper 4 . The gripper 4 has a gripper head with gripper jaws 16 movable relative to one another for grip...

Abstract

A method for producing a crimp connection includes initially guiding a cable end of a cable with a gripper to a crimping press. For this feed movement the gripper is moved by an actuator in an axial direction along the cable axis. The cable end is thereafter connected with a crimp contact. During the crimping process the gripper is, for compensation for length extension of the cable during crimping, moved along the cable axis in a return movement in an opposite direction to the feed movement.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method for producing a crimp connection according to the preamble of claim 1 . Furthermore, the invention relates to a crimping device for producing such a crimp connection. Background technique [0002] By "crimping" is understood the establishment of an inseparable, electrical and mechanical connection (crimping connection) by plastic deformation between the conductor and the crimping contact. A crimping device is generally an integral part of a cable bundling device used to bundle electrical cables, wherein the cables are cut to length, the insulation is stripped, and crimp contacts are applied to the ends of the cables using a crimping press. On the end of the conductor with the insulation stripped. Known crimping devices include a cable gripper with which the cable end is guided to a crimping press. Once the cable gripper has reached its final axial position above the crimping contact, it remains in the unchanged axia...
