[0024] The following description is merely exemplary in nature and is not intended to limit the disclosure, application or uses. It should be noted that the first digit of a three-digit reference number and the first two digits of a four-digit reference number correspond to the first digit and the end of the one-digit reference number of the first occurrence of the element, respectively. first two digits.

[0025] The following description explains various embodiments of systems, devices, and methods for assessing collateral ventilation between lobes of the lung by way of illustration only and not limitation.

[0026] refer to Figure 1A with Figure 1B And given as a non-limiting overview, in various embodiments, the exemplary system 100 can assess collateral ventilation by testing the lobes 182 of the lungs 180 . System 100 includes an occlusion device 110 that is insertable into a bronchial passage 184 to a lobe 182 of a lung 180 to be tested. Flow lumen 160 sealably ex...

Abstract

The invention aims to provide a collateral ventilation assessment system. Disclosed embodiments include apparatuses, systems, and methods for assessing collateral ventilation. An illustrative embodiment includes an occlusion device insertable into a bronchial passageway to selectively seal the bronchial passageway to occlude a lobe of a lung. A flow lumen sealably extends through the occlusion device to a distal end and has a proximal end receptive of a positive pressure flow. A check valve is coupleable with the flow lumen to permit the positive pressure flow to pass to the distal end of theflow lumen and prevent a backflow of pressure from the flow lumen. A flow meter is couplable with the flow lumen to measure the positive pressure flow through the flow lumen. The occlusion device is insertable into the passageway to the isolated lobe. Measurements of the flow meter of the positive pressure flow into the occluded lobe are monitorable to assess collateral ventilation from the occluded lobe.

Description

[0001] priority statement [0002] This application claims U.S. Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 62 / 849,652, filed May 17, 2019, entitled "COLLATERAL VENTILATION ASSESSMENT SYSTEM" Priority and Benefit of Patent Application Serial No. 62 / 906542 and U.S. Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 62 / 906571, filed September 26, 2019, entitled "COLLATERAL VENTILATION ASSESSMENT DISPLAY SYSTEM." technical field [0003] The present disclosure relates to devices, systems and methods for testing one or more lobes of a patient's lungs to check for collateral ventilation. Background technique [0004] The statements in this section merely provide background information related to the present disclosure and may not constitute prior art. [0005] Various respiratory diseases such as emphysema can cause a patient to be unable to effectively exhale air from one or more lobes of their lungs. The resulting hyperinflation of the lungs can prevent the patient from being able to i...
