Abstract

A device with a support structure comprises two nasal flow channels aligned with each other and with respect to a nasal breathing flow direction, and an oral flow channel arranged transversely to the two nasal flow channels along an oral breathing flow direction, the nasal flow channel and the mouth flow channel have thermistors to monitor breathing of the patient, and the device has thermistors to monitor ambient conditions and accelerometers to monitor motion of the device. The device also detects and distinguishes oral air flow from single nasal air flow, and integrates the device and monitored data with a network.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority to U.S. Patent Application No. 16 / 438,410, filed June 11, 2019, and entitled NASAL AND ORAL RESPIRATIONSENSOR. Background technique [0003] The present disclosure relates generally to medical sensors. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to respiratory sensors for continuous, long-term monitoring of an individual or patient, including measuring and analyzing a person's respiratory conditions and motion. [0004] Human respiration may be monitored for a variety of reasons. For example, information about a patient's breathing can help caregivers assess a patient's stability during surgery and recovery thereafter. Information about a person's breathing can also aid in sleep-related treatments. [0005] Many approaches to respiratory sensors involve bulky devices that can obstruct a patient's airway. In many applications, the patient is unconscious or semi-conscious, and hol...
