Problems solved by technology

Also, the lower quality of the wireless link results in a slower actual data transfer rate
In addition, more information is added to wireless lines for detecting errors and processing signal retransmissions than wired lines, so the ratio of actual available transmission capacity to line rate is higher in wireless lines than in wired lines lower
[0016] In this regard, since approximately equal transmission amounts have been allocated to wired lines and wireless lines in conventional mobile communication systems, there are cases where the transmission capacity in wired lines becomes useless either due to deterioration in the quality of wireless lines, or Data drop occurs on the part of the link from the wired line to the wireless line

Embodiment Construction

[0048] Embodiments of the present invention are described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0049] see figure 2 , the mobile communication system according to the embodiment of the present invention includes a mobile terminal 1 , a wireless base station 2 , a relay station 3 and a mobile switching station 4 .

[0050] The mobile terminal 1 is a cellular phone or a handheld information terminal that moves in the area covered by the wireless base station 2 and can communicate with the wireless base station 2 through wireless signals. In data communications, data is transmitted and received according to a packet system, in which packets containing the data are transmitted.

[0051] The wireless base station 2 communicates with mobile terminals in an area covered by wireless signals, and is terminated at its wireless interface. In data communications, data is transmitted and received according to a packet system. In the case where there is a call in...

Abstract

A mobile communication system implements packet communication by allocating efficiently a transmission capacity to a wired line and a wireless line, wherein a practical transmission speed of data communication between a radio base station 2 and a mobile terminal 1 is measured in a call. A transmission capacity required for transmitting data at the minimum level of the transmission speed is determined as a target transmission capacity and, in a relay station 3 and a mobile switching station 4, an allocated transmission capacity with which transmission of data is permitted in the wired line is allowed to decrease in the case where the allocated transmission capacity is larger than the target transmission capacity. The allocated transmission capacity is allowed to increase in the case where the allocated transmission capacity is smaller than the target transmission capacity.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a mobile communication system in which data communication is realized according to a packet system, and more particularly to a mobile communication system in which transmission capacity is efficiently allocated to each call in data communication according to a packet system. Background technique [0002] Recently, access to the Internet via mobile communication systems by devices such as cellular phones and handheld information devices is increasing. [0003] In the case of performing data communication for accessing a homepage or transmitting and receiving e-mails in a mobile communication system, a system has hitherto been used in which a predetermined transmission capacity is allocated to each call based on a circuit-switched connection. [0004] Referring to Fig. 1, have shown a kind of example of the conventional mobile communication system that affects data communication according to the circuit switching system, ...
