Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] This application claims the benefit of priority to Korean Patent Application No. 2023-0035340, filed on Mar. 17, 2023, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
[0002] The present invention relates to a debris capturing apparatus and a capturing method for capturing debris generated during electrode joint formation using laser. Background Art
[0003] As air pollution and energy depletion caused by the use of fossil fuels have led to the development of alternative energy sources in recent years, the demand for secondary batteries that can store the generated electrical energy has also increased. Secondary batteries that can be charged and discharged are closely related to daily life. For example, secondary batteries are used in mobile devices, electric vehicles, and hybrid electric vehicles.
[0004] In order to meet users' demands for secondary batteries, a plurality of battery cells are provided in small devices, and a battery module including a plurality of battery cells electrically connected to each other or a battery pack including a plurality of battery modules is used in vehicles.
[0005] Meanwhile, according to the shape of the battery case, lithium secondary batteries can be divided into cylindrical secondary batteries in which the electrode assembly is installed in a cylindrical metal can, prismatic secondary batteries in which the electrode assembly is installed in a prismatic metal can, and pouch-shaped secondary batteries in which the electrode assembly is installed in a pouch-shaped case made of an aluminum laminate sheet.
[0006] The electrode assembly is formed by stacking positive electrodes and negative electrodes with a separator interposed therebetween, and the positive electrodes and negative electrodes are each manufactured by a process of forming an electrode joint at a corresponding one of the positive electrode sheet and the negative electrode sheet and a process of cutting the electrode sheet into unit electrodes.
[0007] In particular, in the process of forming the electrode joint, laser is irradiated to remove the remaining portion of the electrode sheet other than the non-coated portion of the electrode sheet, and if debris scattered during the laser grooving process adheres to the electrode, the electrode will be defective. Therefore, it is necessary to reliably capture and remove all debris generated.
[0008] Figure 1 FIG. 2 is a diagram showing conventional removal of debris during laser grooving. Figure 1 As shown in FIG. 1 , a blowing unit 40 is provided in the main body 10, the blowing unit 40 is communicated with the suction unit 30 and includes a plurality of air knives 41. When the blowing unit 40 blows air and debris in a direction parallel to the width of the electrode sheet 1 being conveyed, the blown air and debris are sucked into the suction unit 30, and the suction unit 30 is provided at a position facing the blowing unit 40 so as to be communicated with the blowing unit, whereby the debris is removed.
[0009] However, since the amount of debris introduced into the suction unit 30 depends on the blowing force of the blowing unit 40 positioned to face the suction unit, a small amount or a large amount of debris may not be introduced into the suction unit 30 .

[0050] In addition, the X-axis direction shown in the figure is defined as the width direction, the Y-axis direction is defined as the height direction, and the Z-axis direction is defined as the longitudinal direction.
[0051] In addition, the front direction refers to the direction of the rotary drum close to the supplied electrode, and the rear direction refers to the direction away from the rotary drum.
[0052] Hereinafter, an apparatus for capturing debris generated during laser grooving according to the present invention and a debris capturing method using the apparatus will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0053] Figure 2 is a perspective view showing a state in which a debris capturing apparatus according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention is installed near a rotary drum. As Figure 2 shown, the debris capturing apparatus according to the present invention is an apparatus for capturing debris generated when grooving the edge of the electrode E, and is positioned near the cylindrical rotary drum RD of the supplied electrode E.
[0054] Specifically, the electrode E can be divided into a positive electrode and a negative electrode. Each of the positive electrode and the negative electrode includes a coated portion E1 coated with an active material and an uncoated portion E1 not coated with an active material. A laser beam is irradiated onto the uncoated portion E1 positioned at the edge of the electrode to form a joint having a certain shape. Of course, the waste S, which is the portion to be cut off to form the joint, must be separated from the electrode E.
[0055] Meanwhile, a negative electrode sheet is manufactured by applying a slurry mixture of a negative electrode active material and a binder to a negative electrode current collecting unit made of copper. As for the negative electrode active material, for example, carbon such as non-graphitized carbon or graphite-based carbon; metal composite oxides such as Li x Fe2O3 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1), Li x WO2 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1), Sn x Me 1-x Me’ y O z (Me: Mn, Fe, Pb, Ge; Me’: Al, B, P, Si, elements in Groups 1, 2, 3 of the periodic table, halogens; 0 < x ≤ 1; 1 ≤ y ≤ 3; 1 ≤ z ≤ 8); lithium metal; lithium alloy; silicon-based alloy; tin-based alloy; metal oxides such as SnO, SnO2, PbO, PbO2, Pb2O3, Pb3O4, Sb2O3, Sb2O4, Sb2O5, GeO, GeO2, Bi2O3, Bi2O4, or Bi2O5; conductive polymers such as polyacetylene; Li-Co-Ni-based materials; or silicon-based materials such as Si, SiO, SiO2, or a mixture thereof; however, the present invention is not limited thereto.
[0056] The positive electrode sheet is manufactured by applying a slurry mixture of a positive electrode active material and a binder to a positive current capture unit made of aluminum. The positive electrode active material may be composed, for example, of a layered compound such as lithium cobalt oxide (LiCoO2) or lithium nickel oxide (LiNiO2) or a compound substituted with one or more transition metals; a compound having the chemical formula Li 1+ x Mn 2-x Lithium manganese oxide represented by O4 (wherein x=0 to 0.33), or lithium manganese oxide, such as LiMnO3, LiMn2O3 or LiMnO2; lithium copper oxide (Li2CuO2); vanadium oxide, such as LiV3O8, LiFe3O4, V2O5 or Cu2V2O7; a lithium manganese oxide represented by the chemical formula LiNi 1-x M x Ni-site lithium nickel oxide represented by O2 (wherein M = Co, Mn, Al, Cu, Fe, Mg, B or Ga, and x = 0.01 to 0.3); represented by the chemical formula LiMn 2-x M x O2 (wherein M = Co, Ni, Fe, Cr, Zn or Ta, and x = 0.01 to 0.1) or a lithium manganese composite oxide represented by the chemical formula Li2Mn3MO8 (wherein M = Fe, Co, Ni, Cu or Zn); LiMn2O4, wherein part of the Li in the chemical formula is replaced by an alkaline earth metal ion; disulfide; or Fe2(MoO4)3; but the present invention is not limited thereto.
[0057] Figure 3 When looking in one direction Figure 2 A perspective view of the debris capture device shown in, Figure 4 When looking in the other direction Figure 3 A perspective view of the debris capture device shown in FIG. Figure 5 When viewed from below Figure 3 A perspective view of the debris capture device shown in FIG.
[0058] in addition, Figure 6 When viewed from above Figure 3 A perspective view of a debris capture device, Figure 7 It is cut along direction AA Figure 3 A cross-sectional view of the debris capture device shown in FIG. Figure 8 yes Figure 3 An exploded perspective view of the debris capture device shown in FIG.
[0059] refer to Figures 2 to 8 , the debris capturing apparatus according to the present invention includes a debris capturing unit 100 , a debris conveying unit 200 , a blowing unit 300 , and a waste material guiding unit 400 .
[0060] First, the debris capture unit 100 is set to face the grooved portion of the electrode E, which is continuously supplied so as to be in close contact with the outer surface of the cylindrical rotating drum RD, and is opened on one surface so that the debris generated during the groove using the laser beam can be captured.
[0061] More specifically, the debris capture unit 100 has a plurality of surfaces connected to each other to form a space portion therein. The first surface 110 and the second surface 120 are positioned perpendicular to the ground and spaced apart from each other by a predetermined distance, the third surface 130 is provided along a vertically oriented edge on one side of each of the first surface 110 and the second surface 120, and the fourth surface 140 is provided along an upper edge of each of the first surface 110 and the second surface 120.
[0062] The first surface 110 is preferably provided with a first observation window 111 so that the process of grooving the electrode E using a laser beam can be visually inspected, and the third surface 130 is provided with a second observation window 131 so that the laser beam irradiated by a laser irradiator (not shown) can reach the uncoated portion E2 of the electrode E via the debris capture unit 100.
[0063] Here, the second observation window 131 is not particularly limited as long as the laser beam can pass through the second observation window. In one embodiment, the second observation window may be glass or quartz.
[0064] The fourth surface 140 is provided with a first through hole 141 and a second cutout portion 142, and the second cutout portion 142 is positioned in front of the first through hole 141 so that the air supplied by the blowing unit 300 is guided downward, more specifically toward the debris conveying unit 200, which will be described in more detail later.
[0065] At the same time, preferably, the distance between the first surface 110 and the second surface 120 gradually increases as the first surface 110 and the second surface approach the forward direction (i.e., in the direction toward the rotating drum RD), and the upper edges of the first surface 110 and the second surface 120 are more preferably inclined relative to the ground so that the fourth surface 140 faces upward as the first surface 110 and the second surface approach the forward direction.
[0066] When the first surface 110 , the second surface 120 , and the fourth surface 140 are configured as described above, it is possible to sufficiently cover the portion on which the grooves are performed, thereby increasing the capture capability of debris.
[0067] In particular, it is preferred that a portion of the vertically oriented edge on the other side of the second surface 120 facing the rotating drum RD is provided with a first cut portion 121 cut into an arc shape, and the vertically oriented edge on the other side of the first surface 110 is in a vertical state without any cut portion.
[0068] The uncoated portion E2 of the electrode E is positioned at the edge of the electrode current capturing unit, and is generally provided so as to be in close contact with the outer surface of the edge of the rotating drum RD during the grooving process.
[0069] Therefore, the first cutout portion 121 having a curvature similar to that of the rotating drum RD is formed in the vertically oriented edge on the other side of the second surface 120, whereby the second surface 120 can be positioned close to the electrode E, and furthermore the first surface 110 can cover a portion of the side surface of the rotating drum RD, thereby improving the debris capture efficiency (see Figure 2 ).
[0070] Of course, reference Figure 2 Since the description is given by taking the case where the uncoated portion E2 is positioned on the right side of the rotating drum RD when viewed from the left side as an example, it is obvious that when the uncoated portion E2 is positioned on the left side of the rotating drum RD, a cutout portion must be formed in the first surface 110.
[0071] A first inclined portion 112 and a second inclined portion 122 are respectively provided at the lower portion of the vertically oriented edges on the other side of the first surface 110 and the second surface 120 facing the rotating drum RD, each of the first inclined portion 112 and the second inclined portion 122 is inclined downwardly toward the rear at a predetermined angle to facilitate the movement of the captured debris to the debris conveying unit 200, and the first inclined portion 112 and the second inclined portion 122 are connected to each other via the fifth surface 150.
[0072] A first flange 160 that is removably coupled to the debris conveying unit 200 is located along lower edges of the first surface 110 , the second surface 120 , the third surface 130 , and the fifth surface 150 .
[0073] Next, the debris conveying unit 200 positioned below the debris capturing unit 100 to convey the captured debris will be described.
[0074] The debris conveying unit 200 includes a second flange 230 , a first conveying pipe 210 , and a second conveying pipe 220 positioned below the first conveying pipe 210 .
[0075] The first transfer pipe 210 connected to the debris capturing unit 100 so as to communicate therewith preferably has a tapered shape having an inner diameter or a cross-sectional area gradually decreasing downward to facilitate the transfer of captured debris.
[0076] The second transfer tube 220 is connected to a container (not shown) configured to collect captured debris, and is preferably connected to a known suction device (not shown), such as a vacuum pump, so that the interior of the debris capture unit 100 is under negative pressure, but is not shown in the drawings.
[0077] The second flange 230 provided along the upper edge of the first transfer pipe 210 is fastened to the first flange 160 of the debris capture unit 100 .
[0078] The blowing unit 300 is positioned above the debris capturing unit 100 to blow air downward, and includes a first blowing unit 310 and a second blowing unit 320 .
[0079] Fig. 9 When viewed from below Figure 3 A perspective view of a first blowing unit of a debris capture device shown in FIG. Figure 3 , Figure 7 , Figure 8 and Fig. 9 The first blowing unit is described in detail.
[0080] The first blowing unit 310 includes a first blowing unit body 311 configured to receive and blow air, and a first air supply member 312 configured to supply external air to the first blowing unit body 311 .
[0081] Specifically, the first blowing unit body 311 has a substantially hexagonal block shape, and one or more first air inlets 311a are provided on both sides in the longitudinal direction (Z axis). In addition, a plurality of first air outlets 311b are formed in the lower surface of the first blowing unit body (i.e., the surface of the first blowing unit body facing the through hole 141 provided in the fourth surface 140 of the debris capture unit 100). Of course, it is obvious that the first air inlet 311a and the first air outlet 311b are connected to each other.
[0082] The first air supply member 312 is installed in each of the first air inlets 311 a and is connected to a known air supply device (not shown), such as a compressor, to supply air to the first blowing unit body 311 .
[0083] Meanwhile, the lower surface where the first air outlet 311b of the first blowing unit 310 is located is preferably provided with a recess 311c whose depth gradually increases toward the rear. This is because the fourth surface 140 is inclined upward toward the front, which is conducive to guiding the air blown through the first air outlet 311b toward the first conveying pipe 210.
[0084] Although Fig. 9Only a pair of first air supply members 312 are shown, but it is obvious that a first air supply member is installed in each first air inlet 311a, and a pair of first air inlets 311a or only a single first air inlet 311a can be provided as long as a sufficient amount of air is blown through the first air outlet 311b.
[0085] Fig.10 When viewed from above Figure 3 A perspective view of a second blowing unit of the debris capture device shown in, Fig.11 When viewed from below Fig.10 A perspective view of the second blowing unit shown in FIG. Fig.12 yes Fig.10 An exploded perspective view of the second blowing unit shown in FIG. Fig.13 It is cut along direction BB Fig.10 A cross-sectional view of the second blowing unit shown in FIG.
[0086] Will refer to Figure 3 as well as Figures 7 to 13 The second blowing unit is described in detail.
[0087] The second blowing unit 320 includes: a second blowing unit body 321 configured to receive and blow air; a second air supply member 322 configured to supply external air to the second blowing unit body 321; and a support portion 323 configured to fasten the second blowing unit body 321 to the fourth surface 140 of the debris capture unit 100.
[0088] Specifically, the second blowing unit body 321 is formed in the shape of a hollow cylinder or a hollow polygonal column, and is provided with a second air inlet 321a fastened to the second air supply member 322 on one or both sides thereof, and a slit-shaped second air outlet 321b in the width direction (X axis).
[0089] Meanwhile, the second blowing unit body 321 is positioned on the second cutout portion 142 of the fourth surface 140 corresponding to the upper surface of the debris capture unit 100, and the fourth surface 140 is inclined upward. Therefore, the second cutout portion 142 is preferably inclined so that the air blown through the second air outlet 321b is directed to a straight downward direction (see Fig.13 ).
[0090] The support portion 323 is shown to have a bent shape at both ends so as to clamp the second blowing unit body 321 , but the shape of the support member may be changed as long as the second blowing unit body 321 can be fixed to the fourth surface 140 .
[0091] The second blowing unit 320 having the above-described configuration may function as a kind of air curtain, thereby preventing the debris introduced into the debris capture unit 100 from escaping, and further preventing the waste materials S from being introduced into the debris capture unit 100 .
[0092] Of course, it is obvious that the pressure of the air blown from the first air outlet 311 b positioned at the rear must be greater than the pressure of the air blown via the second air outlet 321 b so that the generated debris can be introduced into the debris capture unit.
[0093] Fig.14 yes Figure 3 A perspective view of a waste guide unit in a debris capture device shown in FIG. Figure 4 , Figure 7 and Fig.14 Describe the waste guiding unit.
[0094] The waste guide unit 400 is configured to guide the waste S generated by the slotting to the outer lower side of the debris capture unit 100, and includes a fixing member 410 connected to the fifth surface 150 and a guide plate 420 connected to the fixing member 410. Specifically, the fixing member 410 is fixed to the upper surface or the lower surface of the fifth surface 150, and the guide plate 420 is formed in the shape of a plate having a predetermined curvature so as to bend in a direction opposite to the outer surface of the rotating drum.
[0095] Therefore, the waste materials S generated by the slotting move downward along the guide plate 420 , which not only facilitates the recovery of the waste materials S but also prevents problems caused by the waste materials S during the slotting process.
[0096] In particular, when a portion of the top of the guide plate 420 is positioned in the debris capture unit 100, as shown in FIG. Figure 7 As shown in FIG. 1 , the guide plate may function as a blocking plate, which may prevent debris introduced into the debris capture unit 100 from escaping.
[0097] Next, a method of capturing debris using the debris capturing device will be described.
[0098] The debris capturing method according to the present invention includes a first step of positioning a debris capturing device at a position spaced apart from the cylindrical rotating drum RD by a predetermined distance and a second step of irradiating a laser beam to groove the edge of the electrode E.
[0099] In the first step, the second surface 120 of the debris capture unit 100 is positioned close to the rotating drum RD, and the first surface 110 is disposed to cover a portion of the side surface of the rotating drum RD.
[0100] Meanwhile, the electrode E to be grooved is supplied to be in close contact with the outer surface of the cylindrical rotating drum RD, and the step of supplying the electrode E may be performed before or after the step of positioning the debris capturing device near the cylindrical rotating drum RD.
[0101] Furthermore, it is preferred that a step of supplying air to the blowing unit (more specifically, the first blowing unit and the second blowing unit) is performed before the slotting.
[0102] Furthermore, a step of sucking air so that the interior of the debris conveying unit is under negative pressure may be further performed as needed.
