Co-molded ladder strap

A ladder strap (150) is made by joining—for example, by co-molding—a first, relatively supple material, defining a lower strap portion (155) with a second, relatively hard material defining an upper strap portion (165). The teeth (167) of the ladder strap are comprises substantially of the harder, second material. In a preferred embodiment, the first and second materials are thermoplastic urethanes, and the co-molding is done using an injection molding process. The co-molding process may be accomplished with co-injection, wherein the two materials are injected at about the same time, or the first material may be injected into a first mold cavity and allowed to partially set, after which the cavity is modified to accommodate the second material.

VCR webification

An apparatus, method and service model are disclosed which simplify conventional methods for schedule recordings of television programs and enable users to control recording equipment from any location via the Internet. Entities connected to computer networks such as the Internet and web-browser software can schedule recordings of television programs and / or operate the recording equipment. In an example scenario, a user who maintains recording equipment at home may utilize the present invention from his or her workplace or vacation place, accesses a service provider website using her / his user name and password, views the a schedule of television programs provided by a broadcaster or other distributor of programming and selects the television programs to be recorded. The application service provider in turn transmits the selected television program information to a computer connected to a later described remote control unit to execute and operate the recording of selected programs. In this manner, the present invention enables anyone with internet access to remotely operate recording equipment to record television programs.

Roller cam buckle

A method and apparatus for reducing friction in a cam buckle for tightening a strap. The cam buckle includes a frame, a brake member, a roller member, a biasing element and a webbed strap. The brake member includes a serrated surface and is rotatably coupled to the frame and pivotal about a first axis. The roller member is rotatably coupled to the frame about a second axis, wherein the first axis and the second axis are substantially parallel to each other. The biasing element is operable to bias the serrated surface of the brake member toward the roller member. The webbed strap is formed from a polymeric material and is operable to be biased between the serrated surface and the roller member so that the brake member biases the webbed strap against the roller member. With this arrangement, when the webbed strap is placed in tension, such tension is maintained by preventing movement of the webbed strap in one direction and allowing movement in a second direction to increase the tension. The roller member is operable to rotate with movement of the webbed strap in the second direction to increase the tension in the webbed strap.

Information band

An information band (1) for fitting around a wrist of a wearer and for containing information about the wearer. The information band includes a clip (2) and a band (3). The clip (2) has a lid part (5) pivotably connected to a bottom part (4), at least one bulge formed between the lid and bottom parts (4, 5), and a locking device. The lid and bottom parts (4, 5) close to fix the band (3) in position around the wrist by a strong squeezing force resulting from a lockable, snappable co-operation between parts of the locking device during application of the information band so that a two-handed grip is required to open the clip and release the band.

Strap tensioner

InactiveUS6868587B2Easy to tightenDesired amount of tensionSnap fastenersFastening devicesEngineeringCam
An improved strap tensioner that allows a user to manually shorten the strap by applying greater tension on the strap and easily lengthening the strap after being tightened. The tensioner includes a tension lever, an intermediate member, and a brake lever all pivotally mounted on a rigid base. The tension lever and brake member are longitudinally aligned on opposite sides of the rigid base. Formed on the tension lever is a transversely aligned clamping flange that extends under the strap when longitudinally extended through the rigid base. Formed on the intermediate member and disposed above the clamping flange is a first cam surface that forms a slot for the strap to extend through. The brake lever includes a second cam surface that is spaced above the front flange member to form a second slot. During operation, the brake lever is rotated to press the second cam surface against the front flange member to temporarily hold the strap inside the rigid base. During use, the tension lever, the intermediate member and the brake lever are sequentially coupled together to selectively engage, pull and release the strap allowing the strap to be tightened or loosened.

Buckle or clasp

A fastener is adapted to retain one or more holes of a belt or strap beneath a belt frame without passing through the frame. The fastener comprises primarily a frame and a back plate, coupled together for relative rotational movement about an axis parallel to the axial orientation of the strap. The frame also serves as a biasing member to engage a latch mechanism. The back plate anchors the member-to-be-secured, if it is a belt. Otherwise, if the member-to-be-secured is a strap to, for example, close a pocket, then the back plate is mounted to the body on which the pocket is mounted, such as a purse or a piece of luggage. A faux tongue gives the appearance of a known buckle, but the faux tongue does not pass through the belt or strap.

Adjustable snap buckle

An adjustable strap buckle is comprised of a barrel member detachably positioned in a hook member. The barrel member is comprised of a tubular housing with a spring loaded push button projecting from an open end. A button hole is positioned through the button, and housing holes are positioned through opposite walls in the housing. A strap is positioned through all the holes. When the button is released, the button hole is misaligned with the housing holes to bind the strap. When the button is pressed, the holes are all aligned for releasing the strap for sliding. The hook member is comprised of spaced apart hooks attached to an anchor member for attaching to clothing, a bag, luggage, etc. The barrel member is transversely positioned inside the hooks to secure the strap, wherein the segment of the strap extending from the barrel member is also positioned between the hooks.

Buckle

A buckle includes a base, a one-piece handle and an elastic element. The base is made of a metal sheet by pressing and includes two walls, a floor between the walls and a jaw between the walls. The one-piece handle is made of a metal sheet by pressing and includes a touch portion at an end and a jaw near the touch portion. The one-piece handle is installed on the base to define a gap between the jaw of the base and the jaw of the one-piece handle. The one-piece handle can be pivoted on the base between a first position where the gap is small and a second position where the gap is large. The elastic element tends to keep the one-piece handle in the first position.

Tactical seatbelt quick release system

InactiveUS20080054615A1Quick releaseSnap fastenersSafety beltsFast releaseDrug enforcement
A tactical quick release seatbelt mechanism that attaches as an after-market enhancement to a pre-existing factory installed seatbelt. The tactical quick release seatbelt mechanism expedites exit from a factory-installed 3-point seatbelt, particularly in an emergency situation. The tactical quick release allows tactical users such as law enforcement, military personnel, drug enforcement personnel, Homeland Security personnel, etc. to exit a vehicle quickly, without delay or snag of tactical equipment (e.g., weapons, communications backpack, etc.) on the 3-point seatbelt, and without the need to take their eye of a given target by looking down for the seatbelt release button. The quick release mechanism inherently provides some extension to the length of the factory installed seatbelt, providing that much more flexibility and maneuverability for the occupant-particularly an occupant that is forward-leaning in the seat because of their wearing a backpack or similar tactical equipment while seated in the vehicle.

Buckle

A buckle includes a base made by pressing and formed with two walls, a cross member between the walls and a jaw between the walls. A jaw is made by rolling and formed with a cam, two non-circular blocks extending from the cam and two shafts extending from the non-circular blocks into an aperture defined in each of the walls of the base. A handle is made by pressing and formed with a touch portion and two non-circular braces for holding the non-circular blocks of the jaw. A handle is installed on the base so that a gap is defined between the jaw of the base and the jaw of the handle. The handle can be pivoted on the base between a first position where the gap is small and a second position where the gap is large. An elastic element tends to keep the handle in the first position.
