[0061] Table 1 lists the formulation details of the synthetic auxin mixtures used in the following examples. Each of the synthetic auxin mixtures in the following examples contained dicamba 62.5 g acid equivalent (a.e.) / L, MCPA 275 ga.e. / L and racemic methacrylic acid 125 g a.e. 4-chloropropionic acid 62.5g a.e. / L (d-isomer equivalent). The salts present in the following examples are the diethanolamine (DEA), dimethylamine (DMA) and diglycolamine (DGA) salts of the synthetic auxins described above. All formulations contained sodium lignosulfonate dispersants and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid sequestrants as sequestrants to reduce antagonistic metal ions such as calcium and magnesium in hard water.

Abstract

The present invention provides herbicidal compositions comprising broadleaf herbicides and alkyl polyglycosides as well as herbicidal compositions comprising mixtures of broadleaf herbicides, ACCase-inhibiting herbicides and alkyl polyglycosides. The present invention further relates to a method for inhibiting antagonism between broadleaf herbicides and ACCase-inhibiting herbicides when applied post-emergently in compositions containing both classes of herbicides.

Description

Background of the invention [0001] The present invention relates to herbicidal compositions comprising a broadleaf weed herbicide and an alkyl polyglycoside, and herbicidal compositions comprising a mixture of a broadleaf weed herbicide, an ACC enzyme inhibiting herbicide and an alkyl polyglycoside. The present invention further relates to a method for inhibiting antagonism between a broadleaf weed herbicide and an ACC enzyme-inhibiting herbicide in a composition for post-emergence application. [0002] To increase water solubility, some broadleaf weed herbicides, such as synthetic auxin herbicides, are typically converted to water soluble salts by reaction with water soluble amines. Although salts of herbicidally active acids are relatively easy to prepare, usually requiring only mixing the appropriate active acid and a selected base, the salt derivatives of herbicidally active acids are generally less biologically active than the corresponding ester derivatives.
