The invention provides a resource-oriented hierarchical name resolution system, which effectively overcomes the shortcoming of single resolution way for resolving a uniform resource locator (URL) to an Internet protocol (IP) address by the conventional domain name resolution system and perfectly provides support for service combination and service or data transfer. In addition, a local entry updating mechanism of a service identification mapping system (SIDMS) solves the potential problems of mapping entry expansion of a name system; and a multilayer cache mechanism ensures the low resolutiondelay of the name system. The local mapping entry updating mechanism and the multilayer cache mechanism fully present the high expansibility of the SIDMS. The two big problems of uninterrupted services in dynamic and mobile network environments and the fusion of network middleware of the current Internet can be well solved by the SIDMS.
