Abstract

The invention discloses a method and apparatus for probing a DNS server in order to resolve a problem that a user cannot normally have access to the resource of a website in the prior art. According to a mapping relation between website domain names stored in an in-network DNS server and IP addresses, a server corresponding to an IP address is probed before TTL corresponding to the mapping relation expires. If the probed server corresponding to the IP address is normal, the TTL corresponding to the mapping relation is updated and probing is kept before the updated TTL expires, or the in-network DNS server is asked to delete the mapping relation. By means of the above method, if a server corresponding to a corresponding IP address cannot provide service before the TTL corresponding to the mapping relation expire, the in-network DNS server may delete the mapping relation timely.
