Abstract

The invention provides a method for reducing E-CID (Enhanced Cell-ID positioning method) positioning delay and signaling overheads. The method aims to solve the problem about which scheme needs to be adopted to guarantee the smooth completing of the switching process and the positioning process if the E-CID is conducted on switched UE and to reduce the delay and signaling resources of the two processes as far as possible. According to the scheme, only switching based on an X2 port and an S1 port between base stations in an LTE system is concerned, for X2 switching and S1 switching between the base stations, E-CID measuring configuration information is carried in a switching request message, and after a target base station is switched, the positioning process of the UE can be completed continuously according to the E-CID measuring configuration information brought about by a source base station. According to the method, for the UE needing to be switched, due to the fact that the UE does not need to interact with the E-SMLC, the positioning delay and signaling resources can be reduced.
