With the method and the device provided by the invention, the audio output of a television audio power amplifier is regulated to be mute output during a multimedia application switching process; phenomena that audio information of the current multimedia application is output, even users can hear harsh sound, and so on, in the multimedia application switching process, are avoided; and consequently, audio output abnormity, such as noise, of the current multimedia application generated when switching the multimedia application is avoided.
