The method comprises: a black-and-white image and a color image in the same scene are obtained by using a black-and-white camera and a color camera; whether the color image is exposed excessively is determined; if not, region segmentation is carried out on the black-and-white image; the black-and-white image is processed by normalization and regions, obtained by region segmentation, of the black-and-white image are merged into a plurality of regional layers; the regional layers are divided into a bright region and a dark region; a sum of brightness differences between all regional layers in the dark region and corresponding regions in the color image is calculated to obtain a dark region brightness difference value, a sum of brightness differences between all regional layers in the bright region and corresponding regions in the color image is calculated to obtain a bright region brightness difference value; according to the dark region brightness difference value and the dark region brightness difference value, the brightness of the black-and-white image is adjusted; and the black-and-white image after brightness adjustment is fused with the color image.
