Embodiment Construction

[0023] The present invention provides a single-use delivery device capable of delivering agents (eg, vaccines, drugs, medicaments, etc.) in a controlled manner without requiring specialized skill to perform the delivery of such agents. The delivery device is configured for on-site filling of a dose of a fluid reagent while maintaining sterility and preventing the possibility of contamination during the filling process. The delivery device is further configured such that it cannot be reused after it receives the fluid agent from the source and subsequently after its intended use in delivering the fluid agent to the patient, thereby preventing the device from being reused and reducing damage caused by reuse. Risk of transmitting blood-borne diseases.

[0024] In general, the present invention provides a delivery device that includes safety features for preventing the possibility of re-use, thereby reducing the risk of transmission of blood-borne diseases through re-use. For exa...

Abstract

The invention is a single use delivery device capable of delivery of an agent (e.g., vaccine, drug, medicament, etc.) in a controlled manner and without requiring specialized skill in administering delivery of such agent. The delivery device is configured to be filled on-site and in the field with a dose of an agent, while remaining sterile and preventing the potential for contamination during thefilling process. The delivery device is further configured to be rendered incapable of reuse following receipt of a fluid agent from a source and subsequently following its intended use of deliveringthe fluid agent to a patient, thereby preventing reuse of the device and reducing the risk of the spreading blood-borne diseases through reuse.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of and priority to US Provisional Application No. 62 / 188,108, filed July 2, 2015, the contents of which are hereby incorporated by reference in their entirety. technical field [0003] The present invention relates generally to delivery devices for delivering substances such as medicaments, and more particularly to a single-use delivery device that allows fluid reagents to be delivered after they are received from a source and subsequently delivered to a It cannot be reused after the patient's intended use. Background technique [0004] Millions of people are infected and die every year from a variety of diseases, some of which are curable or entirely preventable. For example, many diseases can be prevented through an immunization program that includes the administration of vaccines. While vaccinations have led to significant reductions in the number of cases of several infectious...
